Seeing the huge amount (in Morgan terms) of new and or nearly new Plus Four and Plus Six cars floating around the network it does make you wonder if they are over producing..
Some of the Plus Six are 2019 launch models with very low mileage still at the dealers.

I think maybe this needs a bit of investigation by the head honchoes.

It's interesting too how a lot of high end low mileage limited edition models are currently being offloaded into the market place too - I wonder if people are getting a little nervous around emissions regulations and wanting rid of their investment as they can see the market vanishing soon.

I think this is a very insightful point. Sure, there will always be customers who want to buy a Morgan and aren't concerned about its future value, but many of the owners who bought in expectation of their P&J retaining significant value into the future must be getting a bit nervous - and they would be very wise to be too. When the market collapses it's going to do so very quickly indeed, and my guess it's less than 5 years now.

The alternative, of moving to some sort of renting mode, depends on customers having dependable future expectations of really quite large amounts of discretionary spending power - and they'll have nothing at all to show for it if they don't go for the balloon payment option. Maybe having a last few years of hedonism at £700/month or whatever is an attractive option, but it's not going to be attractive to many.

Unfortunately, I think the lead time to get an alternative nation wide fuel infrastructure in place to make the ICE sustainable after the UK sales cut off of ICE in 2030 is just not plausible IMHO. We may well see the 40 year MOT exemption still in place for the earlier cars, but I get a strong sense that there will be extended emission free zones basically extended across the UK making it almost impossible to drive most ICE's or at immense zone charges to do so. As the support industry will move away from ICE we may find the Insurance Industry will decrease/cease to support or seriously hike premiums for ICE as repair costs may well sky rocket.

So I see a perfect storm of tightening emission regulation, ICE support infrastructure disappearing. fuel availability issues quickening the pace of change and maybe the public perception of the ICE as part of the problem of creating further weather disruption across the world......

We occasionally dip into such TV programs that follow ambulances, police cars and other emergency service providers. It is like observing another planet, massive areas of development, people living cheek-by-jowl with social tensions caused by poverty, stupidity and drug use. Which is why I enjoy the first series of Star Trek, it is all about building a better society.

IF what we see on TV is representative of the many I feel it is time society collapsed, as structured today it serves no purpose.
Society has to be about "US" and the greater good, not violent versions of what used to be a petty squabble.

Today we honour the "Glorious Dead". At lease their deaths were because the majority believed in the greater good.

I just don't see an ICE Armaggedon anytime soon. There are some simple basics at play. EV's are unaffordable to a large proportion of the population. If individuals cared about climate change they would be cramming public transport. They are not. A huge number of people don't have off street parking. Those who can afford EVs will clog public charging points. Will the infrastructure support huge numbers of EVs? And so on.

Small businesses thrive on opportinity. I should know. I audited businesses for over 40 years. So when the new market is all about EVs (and this will be much reduced by affordability), a second layer of ICE support will continue to thrive. Fuel will be available while there is profit to be made and even if the big players pull out, others will chase the money.

I'm quite happy to use public transport if push comes to shove. Which it probably will!!! But my Morgan miles are low and I will pay whatever is demanded. How ever the politicians take this forward, there will be collateral damage.

There's no short cut to cutting emissions by replacing the nation's ICE fleet. Replacing the fuel may yet prove to be a more effective route, until batteries become more efficient, their manufacture less polluting, and the electricity generation to charge the batteries is clean.

Expect cars to increasingly be offered synthetic fuel at the pumps.
