As a matter of interest does any other old Morgan have this arrangement for the handbrake. It doesn't appear in any of the documentation I have (Original Morgan Instruction book and John Dowdeswell's Workshop Manual.) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/10/08/IMG_1001.jpg) Also I ought to replace this piece as it was cracked. My local indy welded it, and ground it to shape. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/10/08/IMG_0992.jpg) This piece fits in the box on the slave cylinder, and is pulled out by the handbrake, pushing up two pegs which force up the shoes onto the drum. I cannot find the piece on BHM parts list nor on Mervyn Rutters website.

It's shown in the diagram on Morgan Spares, but unfortunately doesn't seem have a part number. Morgan SparesArwyn may be able to help - I think I recall a FB post where he was looking for the same.

Yes, thats the early Plus 4 set up on a 3HA axle
Was able to obtain a spare lever from Derek Willburn but I think it was the last one he had.
Derek stepped in just before I sat down with my Girling parts books and tried to cross reference it
It may be Riley RM but I'm not 100% sure of that.
Won't be an easy part to make - as its, profiled, twisted and then hardened and ground.
Could yours be welded? Not sure but I guess there are some on here who can wield a TIG torch better than me!!

Thanks Arwyn, Yes, mine was welded. When I first acquired the car back in June I took it to my local indy, who does work on classics as well as modern. He took the drums off to check the linings and investigated the handbrake mechanism. He found the crack on one side so removed it. He has a guy who is a dab hand with TIG, so it was welded and ground back to shape. I was advised to see if I could find a replacement, but having just fitted the relined brake shoes, and checked the hb mechanism, I couldn't determine which had been welded.

According to my Girling catalogue the brakes appear to be Type HW and this item is listed as a Draw Link part number 481845. The mass production application was Rover 80, 90, 100, 3 Litre and 3.5 P5B.
Hope this helps

Thanks Jack, At least I have a part number, but trying to source the item is proving a challenge. Needless to say but the current Girling parts catalogue doesn't include it. I'm not too worried though as the repair weld is fine.
