Hello to the TM community. We measured the ground clearance on a Plus Six with the original hainholz resonator. From the floor to the pipe in front of the silencer, there are approx. 90mm for both exhaust systems. The lowest point in the original exhaust system is the Hainholz resonator. There the ground clearance is 90mm. Our silencer has a ground clearance of 95mm there. The pipes behind the silencer have a ground clearance of 100mm on our exhaust. Of course, the original exhaust has more because the four small pipes have a much smaller diameter. It also has to be said that the pipe in front of the silencer has a diameter of 80mm with us and originally it was 76mm. I can't say anything about the ground clearance of the Morgan sport exhaust system without Hainholz resonator, because we don't have a vehicle with us that has this exhaust fitted.
So you don't really get ground clearance, but fun :-)
Regards Olli from Morganpark

Thanks guys, I think measurements from the bottom of the car would be less prone to error (see ground clearance on the plus 4 thread), but would still be interested in the swap out. Regards

Hi Mike We have discussed the matter of ground clearances on the Plus Six and the problem with dragging the muffler on every speed bump before. When we fitted the SSL coil over damper suspension units with the adjustable spring platforms and adjustable dampers we obtained 105mm clearance under the muffler. What I did not say was that we also removed the resonator, that SS mini muffler that hangs down about 15mm more than the exhaust. No great difference to the exhaust noise but I'm yet to give the system a real test!
there are four Plus Six in NZ and they are all fitted with the SSL units - a real improvement in handling and the car feels like it is gripping the road. When we set the car up we used the factory clearances 135mm front and 155mm rear under the jacking points. And the tires at 28psi. An interesting point is the I now have clearance on the rear between the top of the tire and the bottom edge of the rear wheel arch of 50mm and similarly on the front of 40mm.
In the meanwhile the brake and radiator parts for MOG 6 arrived last Thursday by AIR from MMC only to have the mechanic test positive for Covid. I don't think we can blame MMC for the Covid wave hitting NZ! Hopefully back on the road in time to get to the NZ MSCC AGM in the South Island. Kerry

Hi Kerry, interesting to find out about the resonator.... and I think I may go for the coil over when I upgrade the exhaust, both jobs after the MMC warranty expires. Hope your back on the road soon. Regards Mike

Hello Dada,
as we can`t put in the sound files or videos over here, we would ask you to send us your mail address. So we could send you some videos with the exhaust sound to your private mail account. Regards Frank from Morgan Park

Frank - it is possible to save them to Youtube and then link this in if it helps. Happy to assist you if you need it.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

A very interesting topic that I'm reviving. I've owned a Morgan Plus Four with a B48 engine for a few weeks now. I don't see a sports exhaust in the list of factory options. However, the sound is quite pleasing. I know a good Belgian craftsman who has been fitting stainless steel exhausts for me for a long time : https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/548795/1He could make me a more sporty stainless steel exhaust system, but I'm afraid my car would be too noisy and unpleasant after the modification. Furthermore, I'm not sure if there would be any power gain... what do you think?
