I rebuilt a Renault 6 engine in the kitchen when I lived with my Mum and Dad about 50 years ago.
My Dad was very supportive, my Mum less so!

As a lad, my brother and I used to test model boats in the bath, the IC powered ones didn't go down well with mum

laugh2 laugh2... yes, don't mention illicit use of the dishwasher too

I don't know why, perhaps it is the dishwasher detergent, but aluminium engine parts come out with a nice light almost anodised finish.
I won't tell how I know evil

No it's quite safe so long as you allow enough time for the washer to finish before the SWMBO comes home. LoL.

I once had a alloy barrel in the oven to remove the cylinder liner and unfortunately the owner of the barrel had just painted it with some barrel paint without puting it through a heat cycle. So I left the barrel in the oven and went to the shed to get the liner removal tools, well when I returned I could not see a lot because of the smoke. I managed to get the liner out OK but the room was still halve full of smoke when my wife returned!!!
After this I had to "invest" (a term you should always use when buying tools!!!) in a large propane torch which did prove a good buy.
Cheers
John.

Have turned and milled a key to loosen the central nut. Unfortunately, the laser engraving is not particularly successful. banghead
