Miklos, I find that a very interesting statement knowing where you work from your previous posts.
I have to admit the suggested solution mentioned before is far too simplistic to be a reality in my head.

René, unfortunately the Spiegel report is behind the paywall, I would have liked to read what Porsche did with the unsold cars to bring them to "other markets" and which "honorable" people buy them...from the Lebanese clan to the Russian mercenary?

Of course, taking back and modernizing existing cars would be a clean solution. But the topic opener was not talking about this scenario and the homologation problems it would cause, but about the topic "up to" 70% money back.
Well...that should have a calming effect now. If it is so far, then let's see what the aftersales department of Porsche comes up with. But maybe Porsche will get 70% back from Audi internally😀🙄.

The cynic in me thinks as this might affect as many as 3% of production, and that there were rumours of a class action in the US, perhaps spawned the Porsche extended warranty insurance scheme for Porsches up to 15 years old and something like a max of 150K miles which customers could buy into..... I sure did, despite that the widely reported issue was resolved at least one model year before my 991, not that it is totally free of issues that can bug me..but then I am a grumpy old man.. smile oldgit

Given that Porche was founded by a card carrying Nazi and convicted war criminal who was one of Adolf's chosen weapons designers, you can be sure that Porche have years of experience of hiding nasty smells.

But leaving that aside, their response is a sensible business one. Customers now are hesitant because they fear collapsing resale values as local authorities compete in vitrue signalling anti car restrictions. Porche have enough sense to realise that whilst the western countries will impose restrictions sooner or later, most of the world will only be too happy to buy a second hand 911 at a discount posts 2030 0r evenb 2050. Its a no brainer.

As an option for upgrading a returned car, even to EV, while watching the tv series “Vintage Voltage” I wondered about safety issues for their conversions. Taking an older ( usually) car, removing the drive train and fitting batteries/ motors with other upgrades ( brakes, suspension etc). The original car would be passed via homologation. However, the big changes they do make the car substantially different. A big issue is battery safety in a collision and the electrics. Is it a case of classing it as an “engine” change and updating the V5? The other route is homologation checks ( crash test that is drastic and destructive?). IVA test as for kit cars?
There are knock-on issues re insurance, VED, ULEZ to look at as well. There are cases for ULEZ appeals where the database doesn’t recognise the car as EV despite the DVLA V5 changes.

Still puzzled by this. Euro 4 is cars and Euro 6 is diesels, but in the UK and in many other countries local m uniciplities are given the freedom to decide whether or not to apply the laws. So neither Bradford nor Bath apply the ULEZ zone to cars and therfore to those Porker diesel SUVs, Euro 6 or not. If they were to apply the Ulez limits to diesel cars all those made since 2015 would still be OK anyway

Or is it the case that after dieselgate. Porche are retesting their past cars and many that were Euro 6 no longer are so

I would expect this is related to those engines not performing to profile as you say. So many shared elements across the family.
