Howdy all,
As I continue to upgrade my 2012 M3W - I get to the steering upgrade.
No instructions supplied.
The kit seems basically a spacer & reinforcement kit, with a Heim joint replacing the conventional tie rod end.
It seems that to install the Heim joint, I'll need to use the supplied 14mm bolt.....but therefore drill out the (aprox 12mm) tapered hole, in the front upright steering arm - to make it all work.
Can anyone confirm that I must take to the steering arm hole with a 14mm drill bit?

My 2012 car already had this kit fitted when I got it but I guess you're right about having to drill out the tapered hole to accept the 14mm bolt. Yes - you need to drill out the steering arm - invest in a new drill bit as its quite hard.

Good find Chris! Rhys - the instructions are for the later type steering rack which uses female-threaded rose joints. If yours is a 2012 car then you will use a male-thread rose joints and threaded spacers. Interesting. My December 2012 machine has the later style Comfort Kit components, and has the longer track rods of the later cars, which I'm pretty sure is how the car was built.

Thanks everyone - to contributing to this this thread. Its been very helpful.
The time difference makes me a little less responsive than I'd like.
So, drilling out the tapered hole, with a 14mm bit it is.
As I've dismantled all the steering, it would appear that I have the wrong kit. I have the first generation kit (with the female threaded spacers), and the resulting assembly won't fit without creating serious toe-in. I assume that what I need is the one in the instructions kindly posted by Chris.
My rack end has about 36 threads, which (installed with spacers) would look different than the installation in the photo posted by Andy.
Surprises me as my car is supposed to be September 2012 build.
I'll try and source the later female Heim joints.

Thank you Chris for posting up those instructions! My late 2013 has the later style comfort kit steering as well and my rose joints have worn out. Just ordered replacement joints yesterday from McGill Motorsports and was wondering what steps to take when they arrive to replace my worn set. Perfect timing. Rhys - if I am reading your post correctly you need the later female Heim/Rose joints which are: M14 x 1.5mm Right Hand female thread from McGill Motorsport, XFRM14x1.5 Ultra High Performance. Howdy all,
I've organised the female tie rod ends - so that should be OK....soon.
Interesting that the 1st generation kit, is really only applicable for the first six months (or so), of production. Live & learn.
While I'm at it, I've stripped the suspension arms and uprights for powder coating. and the precautionary exercise of installing new bushes. I'll lightly skim the discs and replace all the nuts & bolts hardware that is prematurely showing its age. The 10 year-old Avons have light cracking, so they'll be replaced.
