My Three Wheeler is safely tucked away in the garage, but my wifes MX5 parked outside has had to endure excessive rain over the past week and despite using a sealant some weeks ago has let in quite a bit of moisture.
I would be interested to know what products members consider are the best for use as a soft top moisture repellant. I have even wondered if Nikwax Tent and Gear Solar Proof spray is a more durable solution to some of the auto products. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

What material is the MX5 top made from? Vinyl or mohair?
Also, you need to investigate if the dampness is actually condensation.

I put dubbin along the seams. Vinyl roofs should be fine but if mohair there are many cleaning and sealing kits available

I've used Nikwax on my mohair seams, but it does leave a tide mark on the outside.

Don't know which version of MX5 you have, but check the drains at rear of cabin are clear of debris. The Mk1 in particular would suffer from wet carpets if these were blocked.

I have used both the Renovo three pack for the Mohair and the two pack for the vinyl roof on the Morgans. Both came up looking like new and no problems with leaks. Great products.

I have an mx5 NC and the damp inner roof is quite common amongst the community.
Fabsil is the most respected waterproof treatment (mine is done with it and I can attest to its excellent waterproof qualities)
As for damp on the under surface of the roof it’s most commonly associated with either leaking front scuttle grommets or blocked roof drains. A damp carpet Issa sure fire indicator of one or the other. The grommets are dead easy to replace for about £5, the drains are either easy to unblock or impossible. If impossible they’re quite easy to to remove, clean and replace.
Ps, the above need checking as a damp interior can lead to lots of electrical problems
