Does anyone else feel like their seat belt is trying to strangle them? Tension on mine seems so high it makes for uncomfortable driving. Can the belt be adjusted?

No I don't think so, being a critical safety item you will have to replace them, ask your dealer for a safety check or the likes of Halfords will probably check them out for free.

You could try shoulder pads like these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394235302580

My Plus Four does this. It doesn’t release very easily either. I did find that adjusting the “guide” thing on top of the seat helped a little.
