Thanks for the tip - the car doesn't currently have a batten as you describe so I'll see how I get on first then if needed make the modification. Cheers.

Any idea where I can source one please?

Thank you,it does look pretty useful and has a hole at the bottom to give access to the fuel cap. I believe the previous owner had it bespoke made.

It’s not change the oil, but drain the oil from the sump. On some M3W’s oil can seep past the non return valve into the sump, on start up the oil is then spewed out of the air filter all down the front of the engine. So it is recommended until you know your engine to drain the oil from the engine and put it back in the tank when the car has sat for a long period.

Hi Vitaloni, Oil from the header tank slowly seeps into the engine causing 'wet sumping', if your car has been standing awhile drain the oil out of the sump and simply pour it back into the header tank. The oil level in the tank will give you a clue. Foolishly I tried to start the car after Covid lockdown, it had wet sumped and blew the rear crank oil seal, engine out job and ££££

Hi again Ginmoggie! Mine is Chassis no 003, originally the prototype later modified by the Factory to 'The Grim Reaper'. Google it (!) but also see it in its original form on YouTube when Jay Leno drives it. There is a M3W in St.Asaph and another in Bodelwyddan but I have no details of either cars or owners, also another owner of 4/5 or 6 'proper' 3 wheelers near Holywell, almost enough owners locally to start a Club!

Every few weeks during a layover, to help reduce the chances of a wet sump start I detach the plug leads and start the engine for 5 / 10 secs.
Obviously, it doesn't start but the oil pump recovers any oil from the sump back to the tank.
This also exercises the battery, which is on an intelligent battery tender.

Welcome. This is a really nice car. I beleive that the sale included a bottle of gin from the distillery. My recommendation is to enjoy both, but not at the same time! Remember, "G&T" does not mean "Gine & Three Wheels". smile

Enjoy your new toy!
