I thought it would be helful to see, and so compare, all the Duratec Plus 4 exhaust manifold types on one page

Here's the factory Duratec Plus 4 just like the one that Morgan fitted on my 2012 registered Plus 4, Monty was probably built in late 2011 though.

What Rog has.... Are you saying this is what the car came with, I thought you'd had an exhaust made by Infinity Exhausts?

Yes that manifold came with my 2011 car, it’s the later version. And yes I did have a manifold made by Infinity to replace the earlier version that broke on my 2006 car.

Just reading back through your earlier posts…

It may be worth having a chat with Infinity if you do get probs. I have a dim recollection back in 2014 of them having a mil light ruse that may (or may not) involve removing one/swapping O2 sensors

TBH I'm preparing myself for the engine management light as my 200 cell cat, however good, is now going to be a very long way from the exhaust ports.

I may need the fix Rog hints at thinking

On a seperate note of Morgan Duratec Plus 4 exhaust manifold trivia it seems it was Birchills Automotive of Walsall who worked alongside Morgan and AR Motorsport in the development of the complete exhaust system for the limited edition ARP4.

I have a 2007 plus 4. It seems to have the manifold as shown in the 2nd photograph (what Rog has) rather than the 2012 variant, it's probably the more efficient of the 2 although the cat is further from the engine for warm up. Think of fitting the Librands but watching this space.

To act as a future reference for anyone researching this subject and to satisfy my inner nerd, I think I can improve on the above comparison of Duratec Plus 4 manifold options.

First up is the worst of the lot, here's the manifold Morgan inflicted on my 2012 registered Plus 4, Monty was probably built in late 2011 though.

[Linked Image]

Now the better Duratec Plus 4 that Morgan fitted before cheaping out and switching to the above version

[Linked Image]

Getting better now, here's the Librands sports manifold

[Linked Image]

Better still, this is the rather nice looking Infinity Exhausts manifold

[Linked Image]

Now we jump to the lovely MMC Plus 4 Super Sports manifold

[Linked Image]

And here's the equally lovely, but subtly different to the above SS, ARP manifold

[Linked Image]

And finally the 'Monty Super Sports' manifold from Fusion Fabrications where we tried to replicate the MMC Super Sports and ARP manifolds

[Linked Image]

Now for completeness here's the nasty MMC manifold removed from my Plus 4 sat next to the 'Monty Super Sports' manifold from Fusion Fabrications revealing the significant differences

IMPORTANT!

It's worth noting that the further you move the catalytic converter from the engine's exhaust ports the longer it'll take for the cat to reach it's correct opperating temperature, if like me you also fit a less restrictive 200 cell cat you may well be opening the door to triggering a fault code and the dreaded engine management light.

I will report back on TM if this becomes an issue with my 'Monty Super Sports' manifold and 200 cell cat system, and outline any solutions I may or may not be able to implement, hopefully all this will help others reasearching exhaust upgrades on their Duratec Plus 4?

Thanks for the nice overview of manifolds. Meant only as a supplement, I said it before. If someone lives in a country with strict MOT controls where a 200 cell cat is not enough, then I recommend on the one hand to keep the fantastic sport manifold but that someone swaps his 200 cell cat for a 300 cell cat. In my case it passes every test and I have not had a yellow engine check light on in 7 years.
One more point Dave, it is quite possible that your new HJS cat will pass the test even with 200 cells (when warmed up) because I suspect that it is rated at a slightly higher liter output from the engine than was the case with the Plus4 SS for example.

Following Heinz's lead I also fitted a 300 cell cat. The full story is at A tale of 3 cats
I am pleased to report that the car passed its "Revision" (equivalent of MOT) without any problems last year.
This was the third "Revision" since fitting the 300 cell cat.
