If you haven't already why not try the Mustang Owners forums

It was intermittent John so will drive a little more and hopefully get some solid evidence.

Research so far suggests the Mustang 3.7 V6 doesn't have an IACV.

It could be a failing gasket hence the intermittent problem . Try spraying carb cleaner round the iet and see if the revs go up.

Or oil film on the MAF, another reason I'm not keen on K&N filters

Thanks for suggestions. I have absolute confidence its not a MAF sensor problem Jon. K & N filters cause problems when folk lather the element in oil when a light spray is all thats needed after cleaning. Must have sold 100's of conversion kits we made up for Guzzi's over the years.

Last time I checked MAF sensor I collected all the cleaner residue onto a clean piece of paper towelling - was almost dissapointed there was not a trace of dirt!

Brake cleaner certainly made my LR rev faster John, whilst cleaning up after fuel filter change, but that's to be expected due to volatility.

My S1 Roadster had K&N fitted at about a year old. It was three years old when I bought it, and after a number of years, and maybe 18,000 miles, the Maf sensor was oiled up. I'd never oiled the filter, and nothing in the service records suggest it had been oiled. Now my Roadster runs a Ford Air filter and no noticeable difference.

I fitted a K&N on my Plus4 a couple of years ago to get a bit more air through, so I'll see how that one develops.

I'm happy to report that my Weber conversion project is complete. The car is back in commission, and running well. The improvement in the car's throttle response is amazing!

Morgan folks really are the best. I'd still be flailing around in the dark if it wasn't for the patient help and advice of a terrific group of people that enjoy seeing these cars out and about.

Just a short recap:

Installed an electric fuel pump
Installed a relay, wiring, and overcurrent protection for the pump
Installed a combo filter/pressure regulator
Installed all new fuel lines
Installed a port in the factory header for an oxygen sensor
Removed the rust and deteriorated coating from the header and applied a new ceramic coating (actually, I just paid Jet-Hot to do all that - they were terrific!)
Removed the stock exhaust system and installed a glasspack muffler and side pipe (subcontracted to my local muffler guy)
Removed the stock SU carbs and installed a set of Weber 42 DCOE 8 carbs
Rebuilt and reconfigured the Webers
Installed a Derrington intake manifold
Installed a fuel pressure gauge
Installed an air to fuel ratio gauge
Integrated, tested, and tuned all of the above.

What's really amazing is that I don't have a pile of important-looking stuff left over. New territory for me!

Took dog to vets in Morton yesterday. This time I was a little more thorough in checks. After normal start up I noticed the o/s side pipe was still a little louder at cold fast idle whereas n/s one gave smooth three cylinder hum. 23 mile journey to Bury was normal with warm idle perfect at 650rpm. Checked again when I arrived and both pipes equally quiet at idle. Same when I got home.

For the moment assuming issue has fixed itself and maybe an idle/fuel trim relearn issue on bank 1 as suggested in an article linked to me by JohnV6 although this is normally needed after a battery disconnect thinking 🤞

Richard I'm glad it's seem to have sorted itself. I take it Leo has a higher voice now after the vet visit hide

GParkins ... good to hear you're seeing a noticeable improvement for your work ... will be interested to hear how it works out more long term.
