Keeping fingers crossed that there’ll be many more drives soon….
drive

I hope so for you too. Enjoy it.

It is swmboSnr birthday lunch on Sat. She is 93. So I was getting brownie points dropping the cake & candles off at the venue the Fox Inn at Newbourne. A lovely chill sunny day perfect for the flying jacket. Took the long way back to enjoy my first decent drive in Feb with dry & ice free roads.

Not quite as sunny as forecast but dry roads and a chance for the first good run since having the steering and brakes sorted out at New Elms meant a trip to Kingston Lacy with a short stop in Mere. Car just feels so good now

I had a handful of annoying little tasks to accomplish today, so I saddled up the Morgan for the transport duties. Haircut, odds and ends for my wife's sewing project, etc, etc. Having just converted the car to a pair of DCOE Webers, I really wanted to put some miles on it to get a sense of the tune and tractability. Part of the drive was in town, with traffic lights and a lot of stop-and-go driving. The balance of the day was spent on open roads sort of in the 70mph range.

The car ran flawlessly. If someone held a gun to my head and told me I had to identify an issue, it would be that I'm getting a little bit of richness stumble when I first take off from a dead start. If I'm gentle with the pedal and don't lean on the accelerator pump, it's as smooth as glass.

It was joyous to be able to just enjoy the car and the day.

Madmax who owns a Porker inivited us to the breakfast meet of the Norfolk & Suffolk Porsche Owners Club at a coffee shop in darkest Suffolk somewhere near Woodbridge but down some fabulous twisty roads. Lots of exotica on view and 3 clear winners i.e. the mogs & especially the Brooklands #3 & 5. laugh2

It was interesting to see how the 911 has gotten bigger & in my view less lovely over time. My ideal one would be an early 70s car. I have driven a modern 911 Carrera 4S and found it very efficient, fast & with great road holding. A very competent package but not what I like in my fun car, luddite that I am.

Seems we think along similar lines John, although I am the proud owner of a 991.1 3.8 C4S I prefer the earlier air cooled Porsches in terms of their size and lack of modern complexity. Having owned a couple of 911 SC`s back in time though have to admit that while I chose the modern Porsche initially to suit my good lady`s ability comfort and safety it, in truth once on the move the 991 seems to belie it`s slightly larger dimensions and the old man I have become is getting used to the idea and ease of use of parking sensors and the like along with the flappy paddle gear shift etc.etc.etc.... I have oft times been in the company of the Porsche crowd in my Morgan and have to say when I am , and parked up, it is the Morgan more than the Porsches that attracts attention... smile
