Colin, the slightly gold coloured threaded spring seat tube with the two black anodized locking rings is the giveaway to it being SSL

Shocker adjustment is anticlockwise (loosen) to soften, opposite to harden, for road use don't make the mistake of hardening too much, I advise count how many clicks you have and start midway...then just go softer / harder from mid point

If you rotate the shockers by 180 deg and mount with the adjuster facing the chassis, you can then adjust on the car without even taking the wheel off, or even having to jack up

Thanks Jon, yes it appears that I have the SSL front suspension, a LSD and sports muffler as well. The question now is are they part of the 110 anniversary inclusions or an Australian inclusion.( I have only found details relating to the 110 factory edition) They were not specifically asked for by the original owner.
Regards
Colin

The SSL RS front kit is definately an after market mod even if fitted by dealer at pdi. The shock absorbers in the SSL kit have changed over the years and I believe were non-adjustable Bilstein's originally. If yours have adjuster though then turning them clockwise click by click increases damping. The later blue Spax gas shocks shown above have 30 odd clicks but most others are around the 15 mark. Starting with each on minimum (fully anti-clock) adjust them an equal amount (2 clicks or 4 if you have later Spax gas) increasing damping until an ideal is found after short drive over similar road, then maybe back off each a click. Note some recommend adjusting back from max damping as the clicks are more easily felt. Also note that adjusters should face inwards for ease of adjustment as per Jon's comment.

Thanks Richard yes the shock adjustment knob faces inwards on all shocks. But the suspension is a mystery as the car was delivered new in Australia with the SSL fitted.

Strange Colin confused2. Take note that the adjustment of spring rate which the kit allows should be checked after say 5000 miles from original fit as main springs will have settled. You should have two C spanners in toolkit. Unlock the two lock rings with these then using one spanner to hold top of threaded part adjust lower ring. You are aiming to provide zero clearance with static suspension between stub axle and rebound spring but such that spring can still be turned by hand. Repeat for other side. Adding a weight to simulate driver/passenger may help. Note that finding the static position of stub axle may vary so double check before tightening the upper to lower lock rings each side.

FWIW SSL recommend making this adjustment with shocks removed and letting car bounce off a trolley jack to find the ideal static ride height.

Apologies Colin blush have just checked an old 110 anniversary Roadster price list I had and there was a "adjustable platform front suspension" option offered by MMC at £821.54, although perhaps not surprisingly no mention of SSL. Strange that this appeared, I believe for the first time, so close to end of the Classic production though.

Given this the cynic in me would have been sceptical it was ever set up correctly, so well worth checking now.

Impressive two post lift you have as in other thread, and super tidy garage thumbs. I guess the lift gear folds out of the way to allow free access for car. My budget only ran to scissor lift and need to drive on scaffold planks to provide clearance when fully lowered.
.

Thanks again Richard,Contacted Peter Ballard by email and he has sent me a full set of instructions so I know what I will be doing the next rainy day.
The low headroom two poster was a great buy gives good clear access to all of the underside of the car and the arms fold out away from the car making for easy parking. In Australia there was very little price difference between it and a scissor hoist plus the advantage of an extra 8 in of head room.
Colin

Received a second e mail from Peter Ballard apparently Morgan fitted SSL RS kits to all Australian spec cars as a means to increase ride height to comply with ADR’s

This was indeed the factory option of SSL, it was offered on all +4 and Roadster price lists I perused in 2018, I didn't spec it for mine as the numbers just didn't stack up, same labour, and no credit for all the standard springs & shocks not fitted frown

Thanks for info Colin. You will find in the instructions for fitting SSL kit there are optional positions above or below stub axles for the included 20mm spacers. I chose to fit mine below to give closest match to OE ride height and have had no clearance issues. Fitting them above as I imagine yours are, raises the ride height correspondingly.
