Who has converted their 2012-2023 Xwedge powered three wheeler to a different engine? As time goes on there is going to be a need for this and gathering a knowledge base to do it could be handy. Just food for thought.

Interesting question to which there are perhaps several other questions - can it be done and if so will the car retain enough character to remain fun and relevant? Will fuel supplies remain available and affordable enough for this to be viable? Will alternative fuels become available which will work? Will aftermarket parts become available to keep engines running? Have I made the biggest financial mistake in my life by only just getting mine 😂😂. I hope some of the replies are optimistic 🫰

Will alternative fuels become available which will work? .....I hope some of the replies are optimistic I remain optimistic that alternative fuels will become readily available. Some day. But why is it that apart from recycling old chip fat (or whatever it is they do), there just doesn't seem to be a mass movement towards researching alternative fuels for internal combustion engines ? I realise that the boffins are busy (quite rightly) seeking solutions to Covid, Cancer, Alzheimers and all the other things that keep me awake at night, but there must be a few of them that could produce something Nobel prize-winning for the automotive industry ? There are probably lots of conspiracy theories, but the profits at e.g. Shell and BP have been boosted by a huge rebound in oil and natural gas prices following the invasion of Ukraine, so currently it behoves them to keep pumping the stuff (before it runs out) despite all the associated environmental impact. And some day, as well as the apalling human cost, someone will calculate the environmental impact of the Russia/Ukraine war. But I am convinced that we are not scared enough of what Putin and his ilk are still capable of unleashing upon us all. I predict that my days will be numbered before EV's are truly world-leaders, despite legislation pushing for their dominance. So on balance, I will continue to drive an I.C. tin-top, and take out the Mog and other classics on high days and holidays. While I can.

I think that inevitably petrol will become more and more expensive and less and less available, but I don't think it will ever get outlawed as such. The places where we'll be allowed to use it will also reduce as clean air zones become more widespread, but outside urban areas I don't think we'll see much restriction.
But for the next 10 or 15 years I don't think we'll see a big change, unless the climate goes completely mental and they bring in some pretty drastic laws to stop emissions.

Thanks so much for posting that link. Highly-recommended viewing. Harry Metcalfe clearly explains what really IS going on, and takes me from ignoramus to reasonably-well-informed.

No issues, I also found it incredibly helpful. It’s a shame you have to know it exists to find it, it broke YouTube rules in some strange way so is only found by searching, it’s not on Harry’s list of videos on his channel. He tweeted about it being removed a few days ago.

Given that M3WServices and Phil Bleazey have a supply of X Wedges, I suspect there is no need to rush to a different engine. More likely some machine shop will engineer new pushrods, valves, cylinders etc for the X-Wedge (until it be comes the Ex-Wedge). See Cameron Engineering for the latest in JAP engine technology for M3W 2 and 3 speeds for example... If you really wanted a different engine I think the Blackburne would be an interesting project. Perhaps the G56 folks might want to give it a go?

I was talking to Steve Cooke who is a local Harley expert & restorer - he also owned a M3W for a while. He said: "The mounting holes at the rear of the motor where the alternator lies are generic across the board. So basically you can put any Harley motor in. They go up to 117". The new M8 motor can go up to 134" with work. It all depends what you want to do. The faster you want to go, the less reliable the motor becomes." He also recommended the S&S 124" twin cam injection which puts out some serious horsepower although he'd junk the fuel injection and fit a big Mikuni HSR48 carb! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/02/20/Screenshot-2023-02-20-at-11.02.02.png) I guess any of these options would need new engine brackets and probably modified intake & exhaust manifolds. Quite a bit of work.
