May be a bit late Kevin but good opportunity to pull the brake drums (four screws) then gently peel back slave cylinder rubber covers to check for corrosion. Mine were ok but put a little Ceratec brake grease in there just in case.

Footrest / Storage space

[Linked Image]

Mrs M isn't one of the largest, she moves her seat far forward for some support for her feet. But that creates conflict with gear change. Elbow against the backrest. That's why I had made a footrest out of hard insulation material. But that always broke. Later, I tried out to use the full car cover as a footrest and save space behind the seats.

That works well.

During longer trips the storm cover goes on top to create extra luggage space.

But it's just dangling loose there because the carpet is too short.

I came up with this.

Maybe I'll make it lockable so that other (valuable) items can be stored away.

Having fitted the new handbrake quadrant, but with the old pawl as the new one supplied by MR was incorrect, I checked the gearbox mounts before refitting the cover. I foiund one of the bolts fixing the mounts to the cross member was loose. I was surprised to find that they are self tapping screws rather than threaded bolts. Tempted to replace with rivnuts, but access would be difficult with the gearbox in situ. Guess they are OK as they have been there for 60 years!

The should be 1/4 BSF set screws rather than self tappers

My thought also, Seem to have been there some time though. I shall have to find a way to fit rivnuts sometime, but don't want to remove the gearbox.
