That’s an expensive option and had wires been a must for me I would have bought a car with wires. I do like the cars with wires and spinners but not sure I would want to spend the time cleaning them - and I would have to because I don’t like dirty wheels

Morgans are a very stylish sports car with great tradition and we each choose the look/style that suits. I prefer the sporty look so the minilites would be my choice painted mat black. I would ensure the wheels and tyres are the correct size & specs. for your 4/4.

When did Morgan start offering wire wheels as an option on the 4 wheel range?

From photos I've seen, they don't really seem to be around until the mid to late 50's.

Good question! The answer is buried somewhere in the "archive," but best guess is late
50s. Steel wheels were still common into the early sixties on bread & butter sports cars. Even into the late 60s/ early 70's...MGC/TR6.

Thanks Dave - so for the traditionalist, steel wheels are the way forward, rather than these new fangled modern wire wheels.

People will be advocating aluminium chassis and auto gearboxes next wink

What about these aluminium wheels?
They look good value. Anyone heard of the maker?

I have seen these advertised for some time on Fleabay and have considered them to replace the black wire wheels on my 4/4 Sport. You can't go wrong with steel wheels and one of my wire wheels is slightly buckled (I've put it at the back and it balances ok) and the wires are a bitch to keep clean and rust free. I haven't jumped yet but I still may go for a set.

Just seen they are alloys not steels. Probably even better.

A comment on wire wheels. I like more driving than polishing and cleaning my bikes and cars.

My 4/4 has stainless steel wire wheels and I am happy with them. It is not much work to clean this wheels.
