Hello TMers

Thinking of putting a protection under the MOG. In the past i have used Waxoil. The only problem with that is that everything gets covered in black oil. I have seen a product called Lanoguard on-line. Has anyone used this? I suppose the question is what other rust protection do TMers use?

I use both the clear(ish) plain waxoil and black paint mixed with waxoil, both in aerosols. I have to agree the latter leaves a clarty mess but prefer that given it's creeping/self healing properties to rust. It's particularly useful where Morgan chassis design has overlapping sheet metal joints allowing untold opportunity for water retention followed by rust.

Waxoyl but the clear one. My car was undersealed by the PO.

Richard, are you saying that the black has more resistance due to creeping and self healing?
I've only used clear(ish), is it worth changing?

Allon White are now offering Lanoguard as a treatment so one assumes it has some good qualities.

I've painted the majority of my chassis with POR15

Not really Nick, I would say they are equally good for rust prevention coming from same manufacturer. One is normal waxoyl and the black the same but with paint. It's the waxoyl part that creeps. As the chassis is undersealed in black then the latter makes sense to me. Beware getting it on your hands though it sticks like sh*t to a blanket wink

The black I suspect is bitumen or a heavy oil distilate

I've used Lanoguard on the Morris and I'm impressed. Its very easy to apply and creeps into gaps and crevices very well Once its gone off water just runs off the surface. The only downside is the small is a bit 'farmyard' so I put the Morris in the lockup for a week.

I'd recommend it together with disposable overalls and gloves.

Grumpy .... like a lot of lanolin based products (which I guess this is by the name) ... it will probably come from sheep's wool .... I've seen adverts for this product on my FB but don't know anythibg about it .... looks good but I'm interested to hear from people who've actually used it in real life.

This is the best stuff I have ever used - Bilt Hamber. I use UB on outer panels, UC (which is softer) inside things like bumpers, and for temporarily coating things over winter, and Dynax S50 inside cavities. Much easier to apply than Waxoyl. I also use Ferrosol rather than WD40 or similar - it can also be used as a pre-treatment before the underbody coatings, and helps it penetrate into seams etc.

Their waxes, polishes, clays etc etc are all also excellent. I previously used Meguiars and similar, but tried their Auto Balm on a slightly faded red car and the results were really impressive.

No connection with the company other than a satisfied customer for over 10 years.
