They have been consistent, they also put it in the Aero as well John.

Good morning,

Had a similar message/problem on my plus 6 two days ago.
Red stop sign, turned off and restarted.

When restarted the yellow check engine light came on.
Dealer thought battery discharge may be causing the problem and advice was disconnect battery and put on charge.
That didn’t fix it but I discovered two things.

Battery clamps were finger tight and put on dry which I dislike.
Vaseline, cleaned and tightened properly still no joy but was a breakdown waiting to happen.
Car has only done 500 miles!

Read the OBD port and found the VSS sensor on gearbox was causing the problem, use BMW B58 to access.
Nothing obvious on inspection.’

Car going to dealer but has anyone else had VSS problems?

Interesting reading the ECU I am getting an impressive 22mpg,
Norway in May might be interesting with a just over 200 mile range.

I'll do you a deal you take my 3.7l Roadster it is averaging 28 mpg & I 'll look after your CX. 22 mpg seems very low for a CX .

That's very interesting Russ... with which diagnostic device you have read the ECU On the OBD Port ?

I thought that too - I typically see 25mpg roof down, and +/-30mpg roof up/on, which isn't too shabby for a V8.
I must try harder!

On the subject of fuel consumption, over the last 18 months I have averaged 43 mpg (a mix of E5 & E10) between fills, with a best of 52 mpg. The digital display grossly over reads and my figures are fill to fill. I have a Plus four Auto.

The sceptic in me suggests that it is to manufacturers advantage to ensure that fuel consumption read-out is always on the generous side. Whilst we may resort to doing a brim-to-brim tank full and calculate on the mileage covered, another issue occurs to me.
As we all know, speedometers are always set to read high, maybe by 10% or so, in order to avoid breaking the law. However, does that not mean that the odometer will also read high by a similar amount as it is getting its signals from the same source.
So our calculated mpg could well be 10% better than actually achieved. Having said that, if the purpose is merely to compare your car with mine, we both may have similar errors so that evens things out a bit.

Good evening.
Tried to send screen on OBD but failed!
It is the WOW reader which i think is Wurth.
Looked at a much cheaper £125 system that seems to read all BMW.
Foxwell 510 Elite.
Anybody know anything about them?

Russ
