It could well prove the death knell for the pure collectors and not the drivers, they become worthless if you remove the potential drivability innocent

I wonder if the fact that it is a manual has anything to do with it in this day and age?

I hadn't thought about that but it's a good point with recent trends.

Well given that 95 out of 100 were ordered with Automatic gearboxes would indicate that this is / was the preference for this type of car which is a tourer drive. I thought I would have preferred manual but now having the auto have found it does suit the Max which has a different personality to the more wild manual analogue S1 in my experience so far...but both are like dating a supermodels camera
The Max love was and still is the first car I would buy if I won the Lotto happy3 now a lucky lotto winner has the choice of 3 very low mileage examples out of 19 in the country..2023 the year of good things.

Having driven both, I chose the paddle shift/auto box on my Aero 8. With such a large and lazy engine, an auto is easier and I the manual doesn't add anything. I also found 1st very short in the manual - you could take off in 2nd, but it felt a faff. I regard the big Morgans as cruisers rather than racers - riding along on a sea of torque rather than trying to wring out every last ounce of performance.

I agree, the S2 with a manual box is a car you can really get into driving and matching revs up and down etc. First is a pain with a bit of rev hang and the clutch angle. Not much space to relax your leg/foot. The ZF 6sp auto on the Coupe does match it very well and using the manual tip changes at anything up to 90% go is lovely if you do want to row it along.

It is surprising how different the character of two cars built on the same chassis is. Mk1 even more so I guess.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I have showed the Aeromax at a couple of Concours shows here in the United States and the car enthusiasts go absolutely wild about the design of this car. Since there are very few in the states, most have never seen one.
