what is the general verdict? It is a completely modern car albeit with some old style styling, so how does it compare to other modern cars in the same price bracket. Like the Boxter, Alpine, F type, Alfa etc. Should I chop in the Fezza and buy one, and if not why not?
I am a bit bored and thinking of a change.

Should it read „buy one“, Howard? Please, correct, otherwise I don't believe your reasoning

The CX, now in its 2023 iteration, is likely to be the finest Morgan ever made, even better than a S4 Plus 8. But is it as good or better than a Boxster S? Both are in the £75k to £100k window.
I can speak with some knowledge as I own a 2014 S4 Plus 8 and a 2017 "718 Series" Boxster S. Both have strong reasons for ownership, but I chose to keep the Boxster and sell the Plus 8, but the reasons are not clear cut and I'd keep both if finances made it possible. As I have to chose it is the Boxster. Just.
Al I can say to you, Howard, is drive both. The new Plus Four is as quick as the Boxster, is hand made and rides almost as well. You can specify it to a point that Porsche can't match. Both have great engines and gearboxes, but the Porsche PDK wins by a head. Both do 0-60 in 4 seconds and something, the Boxster is a couple of tenths faster. Both have Brembo brakes, traction and stability control but the Boxster has more electronic toys, which may or may not be an advantage.
The Porsche power hood beats Morgan by a mile, as does luggage capacity.
Both are good sports cars of great character. Sell the Fezza and buy whichever floats your boat. Delivery on a new Morgan is quicker than a Porsche and you can visit the factory to watch its creation......
Enjoy this process...

I would choose the Morgan over all others. I have never seen people smile, give a thumbs up, or immediately engage you in conversation when they see the Morgan. I have learned to love the CX Morgan in the last three months and would always prefer it to a Porsche, if only because of its individuality. Porsches build 300.000 cars per year... Morgan if it runs well 1.000. But that's something everyone has to decide for themselves. It depends very much on your personal situation and how you want to use such a car.

Peter, rationally, what you describe in your comparison to the Porsche may all be correct, but I also hear a certain Morgan fatigue in it. Because it has never been the "objective" comparison with a Porsche that could justify the joy of driving a Morgan. I can understand you well, even if the honey moon with the Morgans could end at some time, may after many years of joy. But it would be like comparing the driving characteristics of my Elise with those of any Morgan model. The Elise will win every time in many disciplines, but it has a different character than my Morgan. I would also be reluctant to compare the new CX Morgan to the core performance and roadholding of a Porsche or Lotus, even though the CX is now much closer to a Porsche performance wise than any trad Morgan before it. Well I would focus on the Morgan character of the CX rather than the acceleration figures and other technical aspects. Because such criteria are only an updated appendage to the core of the Morgan driving experience. And you seem to have had enough of the latter which I would think is sad but obviously true.

I am a bit bored and thinking of a change. You have been a positive contributing and very forum enriching member of TM since...2009. Well, wouldn't it be worth the experiment of a new and unique experience? It's very funny, you always remind me a bit of Thomas the Doubter (where we just celebrated Easter...).

I have a 2020 manual Plus Four I miss the clatter and bang, the feeling of doing 100mph when you are only doing 60mph, having to grease the steering every 500 miles and noticing the difference afterwards, fighting the car to park it, the 'fine' exhaust sound I love the mpg, that few know its a modern car, the look down the bonnet is the same, the LED dispay, that it still feels like a Morgan, my specially made tonneau cover I love/hate the power steering!

if it is pure for driving: Porsche, Alpine A110 (non-s),... if you want the charm, warm welcome and don't mind the lack of feel in the steering: Morgan
mind the engine: Turbo; pick the auto-box, that helps a lot to enhance the feel of the power-delivery
