The S2 came with driver and passenger airbags, probably as they wanted to sell it in the US market.

A slippery diff and long throttle travel. Mk1 braincell does the rest.

I have been caught a few times on wet/diesel but was in most cases ready for it. I have provoked it a couple of times at low speed to enjoy the car.

Apparently the only S1 made in Rosso Corsa. That car was mint, such a shame....

Glad to hear the owner is ok, looks nasty.

A bit off of the police to basically shame the driver on social media, espicially if there are insurance implications. We all make mistakes..

Off piste a bit, but I thought the cruise control on Aero's was a complete myth, can any of the ex-owners on this thread remember if this is correct or indeed otherwise?

This Aero had no cruise control and no other driver aids. It did have power steering. A real drivers car 😈

I don't really understand the prejudice against Cat C cars, which I have studiously avoided. Online, I learn that "Cat C cars are what insurers call a repairable total loss: the cost of repairing them is greater than the car’s value. All vehicles classed as Cat C have been damaged. Cars could fall into this category if they have been flooded, damaged by fire or been involved in a crash where the airbags deployed. Under the Code of Practice, Cat C cars aren’t so badly damaged that they can't be made safe, at least by a respected and professional repairer, but the system does not provide any more detail. So on a fairly new car, the damage may be quite extensive with airbags deployed, although it won’t affect the main structure of the car underneath the bodywork".

But the seller of this car states: "Purchased by the vendor (a retired engineer) as a Cat C vehicle, with the intention of rebuilding it as a winter project. We’re told that every part that needed to be renewed was replaced with an OEM equivalent, and that invoices and a photo record for the rebuild are available".

So what is it about this car (other than it might not fit in my garage) that means I should probably walk away ?

Maybe a bargain is to be had but I never fancy the idea of a rebuilt one, it's a very personal choice possibly devoid of logic but there it is.
