Sales are up, but in a market that's noticeably smaller than before our recent far-too-interesting times.

EV sales are stable as a percentage of all sales. There's growth in Fleet purchases (so buying in March, at the end of their financial year?) and in PHEV. Which might indicate the EV bubble is deflating just a little.

I read that Norway has a huge uptake of EV vehicles, at present 80% of sales. They are a very progressive country in many ways,
so how have they accomplished this and what do our Norwegian members think. They does appear to be a large negative acceptance on here, possibly more a UK thing ?

Free charging seems to be a plus point over there, with plenty of charge points.

No, no free chraging here in Norway, you have to pay. Tesla used to have free charging, but not any more. You pay using an app on your cell phone, and there are several - so that is a nuisance. Anyway, there are strong opinions of being able to pay anywhere using your credit card, so I think there will be a change soon. Charging points are everywhere, both at highways and in the city and of course private. Usually they cope with the demand, but sometimes during holidays, festivity weekends etc. there may be a waiting time to charge. EVs are specially popular in the southern part of Norway, where the population is more dense. Up north and in the countryside matters are different, due to fewer charging points and long distances. A very important incentive for buying an EV is the price, as several taxes are reduced or even omitted when you buy a new car. If you took this away, most certainly the number of new EVs would be reduced. The reason for this is the inconviniences, which of course is the limited range and the limited number of charging points in certain areas. Most EVs have an overly optimistic range estimate, and with a cold and dark climate, li you easily enter "range anxiety mode". In the big cities, I would go for an EV any day. Out in the wilderness, preferably diesel or gasoline. I live in Bergen at the west coast and could do with an EV, but I frequently visit Oslo. The moment I can go 500 km Bergen-Oslo without being forced to charge I would consider an EV, but so far far I will stick to my diesel.

Yeah, we're currently up to 4 different apps. Our experience of public chargers has been mixed. So far we've had 'free to charge', 'all taken', 'extortionately expensive' and 'broken'.

I think the world of the Musk Float is a million miles away from the experiences of your average Joe in their 150mile Nissan Leaf charging from the mains.

If you can afford a Tesla and have a home solar array thingy, then the Musk Float makes reasonable environmental sense. If I had a spare £100K lying around, I'd defintely consider it for the commute. However if I wanted to drive, I'd take the Mog.....

oh, and the Golf is broken. However, this may be due to the Mrs driving into a fence post at work, rather than a mechanical/elecktrickery problem. She's only had it 6 weeks. Still driveable, but needs a bit of bodywork.....

Sorry to read of your good lady`s mishap TBM, I hope you get it sorted with minimum inconvenience. Been there done that..who has not..?

I suspect neither loadsamoney nor a Tesla might be the answer to fit everyone's ideals in relation to EV`s. Was it not Peter of this forum who binned his Tesla...?

I still have mine, set up with home charging and very few miles covered, it has worked out much as hoped for. Time will tell... Fingers crossed.

To be honest, I'm surprised she lasted this long. She is a shocking driver. However, because she's knows everything about everything, it is difficult to offer advice........

Basically the two reasons I have stayed with ICE, then.
Car too expensive up front and charging infrastructure crap, especially outside big cities. Yes, our driving pattern is usually local but longer distances have increased in frequency. To give the linger range the cost of buying a bigger battery car goes up even more. Even a hybrid is not cost effective, especially the self charging ones. I don’t see the logic in putting such small batteries in them.
