Out of the crate the Roadster is near perfect, no need for aftermarket exhausts or different axle ratios, just turn the key and listen to that six..........

I owned a 94 4/4 with the Zetec engine & changed to a 97 +4 with the 2 l Rover T16. It now has the full Librands sports ehaust & manifold.

The bigger engine & more torque makes it a much better car in my opinion.

I'm sure your correct but cost of the additional taxes and insurance becomes an issue for some when it comes to a second car.

For me I also have to say that I have not driven a powerful, lightweight car for many years and I did not want to finish up with something that would get me in to trouble. I do have a heavy foot and a competetive nature and find it very hard to drive slowly. The mountain roads around here can be a lot of fun but very unforgiving.

When jumping from 4/4 Sport to Roadster the road tax and insurance only increased by £175 per annum and a second hand Roadster cost no more than a well specced new 4/4, the biggest expense is the extra cost of petrol, the Roadster likes a drink! You are right though to choose a car that matches your driving style and temperament

when I first passed by driving test I realised that if I was not careful I would very soon end up in a ditch (or worse) if I had a too powerful car. As time has gone on I have never owned a powerful car - maybe someday, hope it will be a Morgan

In my case I went from a TVR Tuscan 2 to the 4/4 so really the difference in performance has been very noticeable.

It's not the car's fault but mine alone.

Having said that, i do find the 1.8 Zetec very lacking when you need that extra bit of power for overtakes etc.

I guess that would be a bit of a difference, probably requiring a very different driving style.

I recall a few years ago going to test drive a cerbera, I drove to the dealers in my rav4, the cerb took my breath away, going home in the rav4 felt rather pedestrian!!

Well either way, looks like my Morganing days will continue after all.

Sounds like the Roadster is going to be the one for you......unless you fancy going the tuning route.

Did a bit of window shopping in Southport on Tuesday evening....Life's window was full of life !
New M3W and a +4SS in the window. Both looked very tempting.
Not sure if they have any roadsters available though.
