The hard top was no longer an option when I specced my 2020 Roadster. It's a shame as they look fantastic and are very practical for running the car in the winter. I thought about getting one when I specced my 2013 Roadster, but it was just too expensive. Does anyone know how much Begorett charge for a hardtop? I could be interested in the future but would want it to be simple, like the old Morgan hardtops, which I think looked the best.

Nice ! I don't know why, but with the hard top the cars remind me of a 30's Chicago mobster car. Very stylish.

Just an addendum to this post - I reached out to Begorett and they are not offering these hardtops for sale.

Like many, I have often fancied the idea of a hardtop, but quickly realised that to get a really nice fit and finish you'd have to make them bespoke to the car, otherwise you'd inevitably end up with big gaps around the doors and a tricky fit to the windscreen.

I can easily see why nobody wants to make them, you'd never be able to charge a sensible amount for the finished product, there would just be too many man-hours involved to get them right.

I do think the best way is to find one that someone doesn't want and have it fettled to fit your car.

They seem a bit like Marmite and for every person that likes them, there are probably eight that can't see the point or view them as a hassle.

As I've always said, I like not only the look of them but also that it feels like it offers a practical solution to all weather driving.

It's not just the fit of the hardtop but where and how you store it when it's not in use. I recall many years ago someone who was selling a damaged hardtop something had dropped on it in storage.

Even since the long door trads came along in 1997, the screen and rake have changed, the side-screens have changed, and you have the studded hood and the easy up hood. If you look at pics of studded hood trads with a hardtop, the fit across the screen frame is "tenuous" at best. My experience of hardtops on other cars was that they leak over the header rail. Some hardtops for easy-up cars have the easy-up header rail incorporated in the hard top so the seal should be better. So the chances of finding a decent fit are remote.

Kev had a hardtop on his P4ss but the fit was terrible around the side screens.

The CX cars should be much more consistent, but the fact that few hardtops were made suggests not.

Last time I was at the Factory it appeared that the soft tops are now made on a static jig for the CX cars, I assume better body accuracy on the CX platform allows this
