I started another thread on here last year about a clunking noise coming from the clutch/master cylinder area. Having removed the master cylinder and cleaned all the debris out of it the problem seemed to be fixed. But it's now back again. Previous testing by listening with a screwdriver seemed to pinpoint the master cylinder rather than the clutch/slave cylinder. I would now like to replace the master cylinder to see if that works. I have trawled through many threads on here trying to find a definiive answer as to what to order and was starting to lose the will to live so thought I would start yet another thread.

The M3W parts list says :

Quote
Clutch Master Cylinder
15.8mm dia: LBACBL021AP Morgan p/n U120071
Alt. clutch master cylinder, not exact or confirmed bit similar. SAAB 9000
43850 or 8957292. Requires actuation rod transferring over

Can anyone confirm that the alternative works with a simple rod switch ?

I'm in France and googling for the Morgan part number from the parts list gives this page at my local supplier :

https://www.marcassus-shop.com/mait...ler-a-parti-de-novembre-2012-c2x37265892
This is in stock but expensive and doesn't look right at all.

But if I search for a different Morgan part number U120008
Which reveals this item at my local dealer (not in stock) but looks correct :
https://www.marcassus-shop.com/maitre-cylindre-d-embrayage-morgan-3-wheeler-c2x24153259

Googling for the SAAB part numbers I get this :
https://www.auto-doc.fr/lpr/2361744
Would like confirmation that this will work just by swapping over the actuation rod.

I also found a Ferodo part FHC5081 that looks very similar and is cheaper :
https://www.oscaro.com/emetteur-dembrayage-ferodo-fhc5081-1964041-234-p#

I would be grateful for some clarity on what alternative master cylinders can be made to fit (without major work), or a supplier for the original master cylinder if that is still available (I can get items shipped to the UK if necessary)..

Colin - you have a PM - Marcassus website is way out of date, the Morgan price when I bought one was £163.19 plus VAT.

From M3W Parts Book V 6.5

January - Nov 2012 U12008 Clutch Master Cylinder
Nov 2012 Onwards U120071 Clutch Master Cylinder

FOUND ONE

New Morgan master cylinder supplied by https://www.m3wservices.com/ in France. Good servivce and fast delivery.

Arrived this afternoon and now fitted - job would be easier with a second pair of hands.

No need to dismantle too much as the cylinder can be accessed and removed through the inspection hatch.

Clutch action now as smooth as silk. Interestingly the biting point seems higher.
