Is it just me, or have the BBC completely lost it ? Their tiny "sample" quizzed on the monarchy (tonight BBC1) is statistically risible, the reporting so far from impartial, and after I stopped shouting at the TV I'm inclined to say "if you don't like it, b*gger off"

I didn't watch it as I have no time for the philanderer or his complicit partner but I did read this earlier today and thought what a pathetic under resourced poll it was As far as him representing the Church of England with his marital history - I don't think so

I caught the tail end of it. The whole piece seemed rushed in trying to fit in far too many topics in such a short timeframe.
As for Charles, he will do fine. His late mother is a hard act for anyone to follow regardless of their past. Even she experienced periods where her popularity and polls showed more not being in favour of the institution and/or her.
In regards to his past, well, show me a public figure who doesn't have one and even those within the Church of England. Dig deep into anyones past and something can be found. Unfortunately his laundry was hung out for all to see, and he himself put it out.
Alas I am a monarchist and seeing what other countries have as an alternative system, I think we are just fine IMHO.

As a young man I felt a bit sorry for him. Although they had met before either was married, many think Camilla wasn't considered suitable. I suspect Diana was chosen for him, not a good start for a close relationship. As for the republicans, they talk much about the cost of royalty without any consideration of the costs involved in the hustings and election of a head of state.

He won't be his Mum, but if he does not cock it up that should be enough. So far he seems to be doing a pretty good job.
As for the republicans, I would rather the Head of State was an apolitical person, raised to do the job from birth, rather than some politically appointed Grandee.
(But then I was a 4th generation Windsorian)

Didn't watch it (the programme after it was quite good though - chasing the scammers ). As for an elected head, I wonder where you'd find someone suitable? Not seen anyone in Westmonster (sic)...

The very first 'Supreme Head' of the Church was hardly a bastion of marital fidelity And there are numerous 'Supreme Heads/Govenors' since HVIII that have had 'extra marital affairs'........:)

Funnily enough I sent a complaining email to the BBC yesterday about a R5 Newscast podcast featuring excellent presenter Adam Fleming and two guests discussing protesters disrupting sporting events. One woman guest (lefty agitator)was all for it which is fair enough, but the other guest who should have been a counterbalance also seemed to be okay with disruption and the presenter also failed to challenge this type of protest.
Complete lack of balance.
