Mogegg, I don't know where you are in the world but there are several places that make bespoke pistons in the USA. Accralite make them in the UK. I've used JE pistons in the USA and from the UK you need to go through an agent. I used Cambridge Motorsport as an agent I think they are others. For four pistons they are not that much more expensive than of the shelf ones.
Cheers
John.

Hello,

I have a few questions about your needs. Let's look at it like this, cylinders can be bored, so hopefully they would not need to be replaced. BUT... you still need pistons and rings etc.

Do you or someone else in the UK have an old piston or is your motor torn down at the moment? What is the measured bore or the skirt diameter of the piston? With a set of calipers, can you measure from the top wristpin hole to the top of the piston? Are there any markings on the pistons, numbers, letters, name etc? Is it a flat top or dome piston?

Sorry for asking all these questions, but I may have a source here in the US for pistons and rings etc. But these questions would help in my inquiry here.

I still find it disheartening that S&S has refused to offer any replacement parts. There must be some underlying issue that has created this lack of parts availability. S&S has been a very standup company for decades and this still just doesn't sound like them. Does anyone really know the background about the lack of assistance from S&S?

If you can get me some of the answers above, I can get with my source and see what they can do, thanks.

Dan

Has anyone approached Hesketh Motorcycles to see if they've got any spares/parts or engines? They have stopped producing V Twin bikes, and now use a Taiwanese single pot 450cc engine.

I believe these are in the M3W supply chain already smile

It's been widely reported that S&S sold the spare parts, design, and tooling for the X-wedge engine to another company, in Asia believe. Thus they have no capacity to provide spares for this engine.

If anyone can give me some answers for the questions I asked above, I can get moving on with my potential piston/ring supplier.

Thanks, Dan

Other than someone with a dead/spare engine sitting around, probably Phil Bleazey or M3W Services could supply this info? I know Phil has been looking for some suppliers for unavailable (from S&S) X-Wedge parts. Possibly you could help each other and ultimately all of us?

unfortunately I have a 2013 M3W 3000 miles with a completely blown engine. Just bought it a few months ago not knowing...Any updates on this thread about engines or parts? I need cylinders or oversized pistons, valves, guides, gasket kit, timing belt. etc. Would love to bolt on a new engine but suspect I'm on a serious parts search...
