Brilliant ! the trad chassis Mogs should have been built with something similar

If only they were all the same size and shape.........

But the point is fair that would be great on a Mog.

Another trip to see the car while in the area, well only about an hour away so pretty close.

The seats are being worked on. They have heat pads in both the seat and lower back rest and a squeeze thing for the lumbar support.





The camera and lighting in the worshop makes the Burgundy look more red, but these two photos look closer to the real colour. The Blue 356 Porsche is getting the same leather.




The Headrests are getting a MG logo imprinted into the leather, 50 seconds seems to make the nicest definition testing on a piece of left over leather so that will be used for the actual headrests.

Yes it has been a long time. The car was picked up to start the project on 15 of June 2020, I am hoping the car is finished by 15 of June to make it under 3 years but I will not be surprised if it takes longer.


With hindsight I could have done one of two different options to keep myself entertained.

• Buy a 1967 Iris Blue MGB that had won concourse many times. It was for sale by the long term owner who could not drive it any more for $30,000 in April 2020. I could have still gone ahead with this car and ended up with two MGB's. As good MGB's have gone up significantly in value over the last couple of years I could have either kept it as an original example or sold it for a profit when this car is finished.
• Kept the Nissan Silvia Convertible that was written off to drive on good days and then fixed it later on. Recently two have sold, one a shell with no engine or gearbox, seats etc. the other complete but with lots of visible rust in the sills. Both sold for double what I got paid out They are so rare you don't see them for sale often at all but I feel I could have done mine up without claiming the insurance and still had a car I had not over capitalised on, or sold the wreck once the MGB is finished myself for a profit over what I got from the Insurance payout.

The problem I had at the time was I had just returned back to work and senior management had changed, they appeared to be trying to change the culture and I felt I could be let go with no notice due to my history and being part of the old culture. Had I known I would still be working 3.5 years later and the car take 3 years I would have done one of the two options above, however either option would have made my wife rather grumpy. She is happy with the me getting the car I want but would not have been happy with me also getting/keeping something else, I feel one toy is my limit.

Way way back, in the MGCC there was a man with a V8GT. He had to move it while they had an extension done to the house, and so he had a bare shell restoration done without telling his wife.

I don't know if she ever twigged, but the V8 Register regulars found the whole thing very amusing.

what a classic....

Last week I had to go to Sydney with my wife to drop off a wedding present. I was hoping to also see my car but the workshop owner had been delayed coming back from the UK, he had gone over to see Frontline plus Electric Classic Cars as they are working on an electric mini soon. Instead of seeing my car on Monday I went to the Sea Museum. Monday morning we went to the Lego display which I thought was very good and a nice way to spend the day. Then in the afternoon while my wife shopping in town and I looked at the boats outside as the entry paid for that as well. The Endeavour and James Craig are worth having a look at. The only issue was hundreds of kids due to school holidays.

The Endeavour does tours at $440 per day, it is off to New Zealand soon which takes 11 days so is $4840. But as a crew member you are expected to hold ropes etc. and help sailing, the guy said most people end up climbing up the mast to the top at some stage of the trip. It sounds very exciting but maybe a bit too exciting. The James Craig does day tours for $180 leaving Darling Harbour and going out past Sydney heads to sea and then back again which sounds safer. I went on a Submarine and you can see I can just fit in the bed, glad I never was in the Navy, I would not get a good night sleep.











The work shop owner got back on Wednesday and sent me some photos from the trimmers workshop on Thursday. The boot, roof and tonneau are done. He thinks only a couple of days to tidy up inside the car and it will be back at the main workshop, a few weeks to go ovr the car checking everything then ready to start and be inspected by the engineer. It is getting very close.
