My MGB donor car turned up for me to register, unfortunately the previous owner had it on historic registration which is not transferable so it is basically an unregistered car. With the Corona Virus that is going to take a week to get the inspection done, then haveto do the pape work on line and they mail out the number plates. I can't wait to have a drive just for fun.

The plan is to drive it for two weeks before they come back to get it ready for the restoration/ modernisation. The guy who dropped it off said he had a drive and it certainly goes hard with the big Weber and other engine modifications. My wife was saying it is going to look so nice one it is green, but I think it is rather nice as it is, the paint work is original which is amazing for a car that has been raced a lot and it certainly sounds like it will go well as they drove it off the truck and up my driveway.

Good news. I went up to see the car today as it is very close to finished. I got to start up the engine and it sounds great, they said it just needs a few more things done and it will be ready to drive.

Thanks Phil and Paul, Hopefully the rest of the year improves and I can take some nice "On the Road" pictures soon. I just put the wire wheels on the car and in my opinion looks great.

Here are a few pictures. The car in my garage where it will hopefully live from now on.

I put its cover on and tucked it away for the night. The cover seems really good quality and I am thinking it might stop the car filling with leaves from the annoying gum tree right near the front of our house. I bought it from Shop for Covers in the Netherlands.

Two photos from the photo shoot, they were sent to me on the day of my wife's brain surgery, my son and I managed to work out where they were taken from while we hung around the hospital.

I wrote that post before going straight to bed, for some reason 5 of the photos didn't show up.

After about 10 minutes the exhaust went from silver to gold coloured, they said it should stay that colour now.

Passenger seat is out as they are still wiring the stereo but they do feel only a couple more weeks until it is 100% back together, unfortunately it has to go back to the painters to have a very small touch up and I feel that could delay me getting the car another couple of weeks. But it is getting very close.

It has been a long project but a very interesting project and I think will give me great enjoyment for years to come.

The car is going fantastically, the only issue is the boot sometimes gets stuck shut on very cold days. I had the issue two weeks ago as well but I moved the striker on the body panel as high as it could go and that made it better, I have a feeling I should take it off and bend it slightly so the striker is closer to the inside of the boot, then put it back on.

Sunday I played with my carpet and adjusted the height of the rear vision mirror, I feel where it is it is always in the way when looking slightly sideways when on a roundabout looking to make sure cars entering have seen me so I put it higher on the shaft and try look under it. The custom made carpet mat is very nice but was sliding forward and getting screwed up so I was thinking about getting a black one off E-Bay and keeping the good one just for shows, but the workshop in Sydney said I should try lifting the seat by loosening front bolts and then trapping the carpet mat, they said with the carpet they use it happens a lot and that has worked for other people.

Yesterday I visited my mum this morning to help with a computer issue she was having which was not actually an issue any more. I think the fact she turns her computer off every time after using it meant it went away after a reboot. I then drove to my dad’s place as he needed some papers signed for his self-managed super fund. I took country roads stopping for some nice photos doing nearly 150km all up by the time I got home. The car went fantastically and the carpet mat didn’t move at all, so happy about that. The view forward is much better with the mirror raised and I can hardly see the roll bar in the mirror which was my main worry about raising it up, it covers about 10% of the top of the mirror when sitting in the car normally but when driving I must move my head around a bit and the rollbar was out of view most of the time. Overall happy to have done a few small improvements, but a freezing cold drive even though when I slowed down to 40kph for school zone I could feel the heater works nicely.

My leg is going OK, I still can't walk down stairs but getting better at walking around generally and can walk up the driveway OK now, down is still hard but I can do it. I have been on an exercise bike but not up to riding a real bike yet.

My wife is back to sewing so happy again. She is seeing the specialist in September and hopefully she will be allowed to drive again.
