Hi Richard Thanks for the head-up on this problem. I have carried a car tyre inflator round with three spare tyre-less Morgans in the belief that the lighter socket would work! Fortunately I have a SAE connector wired in for the battery conditioner - will just change the connector on the inflator. Kerry

Just having picked up my MY23 PlusFour I need to add connection for my CTech and tyre inflator. CTech will go direct to battery as on the previous car using the supplied connector. I am tempted to fit a 12V socket under the bonnet fed off the battery ( fused etc) as that would be ok for a tyre top up if out on the road. The car comes with a jack, spanner for wires plus an aerosol can of goo for a quick fix. I’ll ask Williams to do the socket when the car goes in for it’s first check @1k miles. Being enticed out for runs so won’t be long! First enticement tomorrow.

It turns out CTEK do a suitable 12v socket that comes with a replaceable standard spade fuse (which you may want to increase the size of) and will plug into the CTEK connector that is wired to the battery https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002X6DQV4/ref=pe_27063361_485629781_TE_itemAnd the description if the link doesn't work CTEK CTE-56573 Comfort Connect Cigarette Socket Adaptor - Black

Perfect! Easy fix. I’ll check the power needed for my inflator. Thanks Neil

If you are handy with car electrics some generic colour codes as follows which may help in finding suitable feed for 12 volt socket.: Brown - permanently live from battery Brown/red - permanently live and fused White - ignition switched Green - ignition switched and fused Another way is to piggy back say the clock or permanent radio feed needed to keep its station memory. Just check the cabling and fusing is up to the intended task. Finally Hella/DIN sockets far superior electrically to cigar lighter type.

My PlusFour MY 2022, built at the end of 2022 and delivered 2023 has a dual USB socket and no 12V plug. So now, at the 1500 km inspection, they install an extra 12 V socket (eg for the trimester) and a magnetic connector for a CTEK trickle charger. I believe they changed it during 2022. Really... Is this still the case? I have a late 2021 MY22 and although I've just purchased her at 3,000 miles... she still only has the dual USB socket? the first inspection service + 1 year service were both completed before myself buying, the second service is due next month.

Sorted the CTek connection to the battery. Next the power sources. I have three requirements, satnav/music/phone charging and air compressor. The latter is not crucial so further down the line as never needed on my Morgans (yet). I did use it on another Morgan once when we spotted a slight low pressure. Silly design issue....why enclose the usb power socket inside the glovebox? It was the same on the Plus8 with the cigar lighter style one. The glove box had to be open for satnav power or route the cable out behind the dashboard and looped round to the Garmin satnav. I haven’t checked the PlusFour yet to see if this is possible but the cable length may be a limiting factor. The bluetooth method for music device eliminates this so ok, but, connecting, say, my mobile phone for music/power source means glovebox access. I am not keen on enclosing a Li battery powered device in the closed glovebox and putting it in a cradle in view to use music selection or the Waze satnav as a back-up to the Garmin unit is preferable. I’ll have to check the options.

I'm not sure how brave you are to take a drill to a CX, but when I had the same issue with socket within the glove box on a Trad, I just drilled a hole in the back of the top corner and fed the Nav cable feed via that

I added a power socket to my first Morgan, a 1993 4/4. Piggy backed the wires to another circuit and screwed the socket to the wooden frame in a suitable place. VERY reluctant to drill a hole in the CX! Can’t see what’s behind the trim so not going to risk it. Having the glovebox open to use the usb is not a major problem, just a bit annoying. Maybe a short “hook” arrangement to hold it nearly closed to allow the cable out might work.

Yesterday I set up my mobile phone bluetooth link. Simple job and now I can listen to music I have on it. I am impressed with the sound. On the old trad I had a Blaupunkt radio that came with the car but rarely used as wind/road noise cancelled it out. The new car seems slightly quieter and the sound system better. The music sound was good, so a test on the move next. I still think the location of the usb socket is daft though. Right at the back of the glovebox making plugging in satnav or phone needs the glovebox open. I’ll have another look to see if an usb male to female extension can be routed out somewhere. Maybe a small loop to hook over the glovebox button to keep it in a just open position to let a cable out. Satnav is ok but I am a bit reluctant to enclose the phone in there for charging. It’s an iphone with the charging set to monitor it. It can get warm hence not done in an enclosed space.
