I think you need to tell MMC what happened to you. Have a good trip, Clemens.

Very atmospheric images, Gaston. Reminds me that we also want to go to Scotland with the Morgan. Although...with all the whiskey trails in mind I may better have to walk😀

Sorry to hear that Clemens! I agree you have to let MMC know! I hope it will spoil your holiday not too much, but this is a very uncomfortable situation for you both. Try to think as less as possible about it, and take the Italian comfort-foot and wines. At the end, it will all be solved, but they have to say a huge SORRY to you! Succes on your journey home and keep us posted!

In Austria as well as in southern Bavaria - we would call that "Glump".

I would consider 35kg a bit of weight - but this must not happen.

Have a good trip home!

I do not want to pour oil on the fire but I wonder a little that at this point the luggage carrier is only spot welded. Regarding the Trads there is always a solid screw connection at this point, whether with a bumper or without.

At first it was a shock... now the fun is back and we won't let it spoil our vacation.
I will talk to my dealer first thing next week and then approach MMC. This could have ended really bad.

35 kg on a luggage rack is considerable although maybe 40 kg with side screens scared. I believe I've seen published a recommended 25 kg capacity on the trad luggage racks.

Having said that the rear mounts did look flimsy and would ideally require some form of re-engineering, warranty concerns aside.

Totally agree with Richard’s comments and, with a case of those dimensions, you can add on a fair bit for wind loading! It's asking a lot!

Disappointing to hear that your Italian tour I the Plus Four has had luggage rack problem.

35kgs is a considerable load to put on the back of a Morgan – remember they are sports cars not utes! By that same token I have the same problem with the luggage of Mrs. Mog Six! I’m surprised that MMC don’t have a maximum load on the luggage racks especially on the Plus Four with spare wheel. You have a longer lever arm and any flexing would put a huge stress on the welds.

Also extra weight on the rear of a Morgan can upset the handling so it is something to bear in mind. I try to limit my luggage load to a maximum of 20kgs.

We ran approx 48 kg on the rack down to LeMans in 18 , some of the English boys with minimal silencing on their old Plus 8's were amused by it -but I explained that way i dont require power steering ! smile
