I'm just back from 'my Dealer' having picked up a new Hood Cover. All the Dealers (I believe) were invited to the factory for a new year/Centenary bash over NYE/NYD, and those owners who are taking delivery this week were also invited to the celebration. It seems that the Company has invested in an adjacent building (needing work) from which to deliver the Centenary Celebrations.

I have come to the conclusion that it must be just me that has problems with dealers. I purchased a Morgan Roadster form a well known dealer near Maidenhead and was very pleased with the service that I received from the sales staff. The deal included a full service which I was assured had been carried out. Fast forward two months and 500 miles later and the car failed the first MOT. Evidently the front wheel bearing needed adjustment and the front suspension had not been greased. It took 8 full pumps of the grease gun on each side. So either the dealership was economical with the truth or the service staff are not doing their jobs properly. When I tried to get hold of the salesman, they were too busy to talk to me. Says a lot !!!!!!!

Have actually had a few Skodas - even a couple of Estelles. Quite liked them, although a friend bought one from us just so he didn't have to pick up his girls from school. They banned him from turning up in a Skoda, preferring to walk home instead.

I think Dealers can be patchy Neil. My Roadster had three Dealer stamps, from two Dealers, but no-one had ever checked the gearbox oil level because the access hole was misaligned so it was impossible without cutting metal. That should have been part of PDI if nothing else.

Because too many Mogs get too little use some dealers use this as an excuse to skimp on service, they are hardly going to get found out if the car only covers a few hundred miles from one service to the next. The way round this is to mug up before you take your car in and then list your expectations and requirements before you hand your car over, let them know you are a knowledgeable and enthusiastic owner

Or use an independent, such as New Elms, where it will be done properly, every time! thumbs

Point taken - unfortunately when its part of the deal, there is no chance of taking it elsewhere. I personally think that the multi-franchise dealers are the ones letting the Morgan marque down. Never had a problem with a Morgan only dealer. Hopefully this Morgan will last me a long time so I will not have to worry again. Perhaps, when I get a few minutes, I shall write to the MD, but one thing is for sure, they will not touch the car again.

I'm surprised at your experience Neil, Taffy who is the exclusive Morgan mechanic is ex REME and any work he has done on our Mog's has been to a very high standard. Julian is the Morgan Sales Manager, as I am sure that you already know, and again I have bought Mog's and other cars through him and would not hesitate to recommend him and SGT highly.

Obviously, I have no connection with the business other than as a satisfied customer.
