"It checks all the boxes for me other than the price."
Do you remember I also asked how people justified the purchase to themselves and also to their significant other [if they have one of course]. Well on the price thing, I have justified it to my 'other' by saying that the cost is what you lose when you sell it, not the price it cost to buy, and these little cars look set to hold their prices like Morgans of old, in other words, they should fetch very close to their cost prices when sold 18 - 24 months down the line..............maybe?

I "justify" it this way. First of all, US $45k doesn't buy you what it used to. We're talking lightly optioned 3-series money here. You could probably spec a Mini to $45k. So after you get over that "sticker shock" the main deciding factor in my chosing a Morgan over another make was that I wanted something that wouldn't keep me wanting for something else anytime soon.
Case in point, I really like the Boxter Spyder. It's a great car TODAY. Fast forward 3 years and it's a used sportscar rendered obsolete by whatever current Boxster iteration exists. Also, if I got one, I'd still lust for a 911, but couldn't afford one. That;s the problem with P-cars, there's always a step up. 911<911S<9114S<911Turbo<911 GT3<911GT3 RS<911 GT2<and so on and so forth. You don't have that issue with the M3W, there is no comparrison. My heart won't drop when someone with a more "exclusive" variant pulls up beside me. Frankly, there's nothing special about a $100k sportscar anymore anyway. You're not turning any heads. In this thing though... for better or worse you're going to get some attention. I'd say it's the best bang for buck in this regard.
From my previous post about alternative selections you'll notice they are all repros/replicas. The Morgan is the real deal, not a replica. So that carries with it some status that the others lacked.
Realistically, I'll keep the car for probably 15 years or so, if not longer, at which point it will be worth maybe $10K. $30k over that long isn't really a lot of depreciation, relatively speaking. If you add in maintenance, insurance, etc. you'd be well ahead of the game versus almost anything else I could think of.

Maybe $10K in today's values but due to inflation it will probably still fetch $30K in 15 years time.

Well I'm 47. Could be a while before I get one assuming it actually makes down to Australia. I'm keen to get 2, one for me and my son. He's 21 now who knows how old he'll be then. Can't really justify the cost apart from the old adage you only live once. I have a 3 wheeler at the moment, albeit not as nice as the M3W is. It's the lomax kit on the Citroën 2CV chassis etc. Heaps and heaps of fun. Man you feel like you're flying doing 40mph, at 75mph (top speed) I'm waiting to leave the road and enter the jet stream. My wife can always tell when I've been for a quick blast as I'm grinning from ear to ear when I come in. My son borrows it all the time, he's got a couple of porsches, and old 944 and a Boxster S. He reckons driving the 3 wheeler is heaps more fun and easier as the road just opens up ahead of you, people let you in, smile and wave. Everyone everywhere (seriously everywhere) wants to talk about the car and take pics. I reckon with the Morgan 3W it will be even more insane when you go for a drive. The M3W could actually extend your life expectancy, happy people live longer and M3W owners will be happy people.
I'll be over in UK mid 2012, Hopefully I can hire one whilst there as I can't see OZ getting it by then. Until then I'll have to make do with my slow 3 wheeler.
Like Steve in California we'll be able to drive it all year round so fingers crossed for OZ compliance.

Yep, I love that, do you mind if I adopt it?
How difficult is it to personally import one yourself direct from the UK Tony. As you managed to get the Lomax registered, there shouldn't be too much hassle with an M3W?

No real chance of private import unless owned In UK for12 months and then shipped over by owner moving to OZ pretty much permanently. Which is not a bad thing, grab a MW3, hang onto it for 12 months and emigrate to the land downunder. Happy to share the Happy People moniker. Cheers Tony

Reminds me of California's cheese industry tag: "Happy cheese comes from happy cows."
