Myfords are capable lathes and spare parts are readily available. I opted for a Boxford lathe as it has a greater turning capacity and don't command the high prices that some people ask for a Myford

I do like the grey Myfords. I did think about stripping mine and painting it black. I think black would look super cool. Then I realised its a lot of work so quickly dismissed the notion crazy2

Left to right 45 inches - you will need further room to use and take off the tailstock. You will also need further space at the headstock end to open the belt and gear change doors
Front to back - 25 inches
Up and down - On Myford stand 56 inches

Buy a good one and the price will soon be forgotten. And like Morgans, they hold their value. Buy something Chinese and you will get nowt back for it :-)
