Hi folks,
I have a 2011 Plus 4 and I need an upstream lambda sensor.
Can anyone advise what the part number is and where I might be able to get one from.
I tried the Ford main dealer but they couldn’t supply without a part number.
Not sure if relevant or not but mine has a stainless sport manifold and sport cat.
Appreciate any help and advice as the car currently stinks and if needed an MOT at the moment it would fail.
(It also threw up a MIL with the code pointing to the upstream Lambda)

Cheers, Giles

Not sure if it helps but some generic info here on lambda sensors. It seems the number and colour of wires is relevant.

For the Morgan 2 litre Duratec both sensors are four wire. Pre-CAT one has green connector with brown, green, white/yellow and black/yellow wires. Post-CAT blue connector with brown, green, white/blue and black/orange wires, according to engine loom schematic.

Hi Giles, since I'm in the thread and also bought a lambda sensor this week for my 1.6 Sigma....
To narrow the search for you I have selected a Ford model that has 2 liters with 146 hp and was installed in the Ford Mondeo from 2000 to 2007. I would be very surprised if it was a different engine than the Plus 4 Duratec. I have chosen Bosch as a reliable brand, but Denso or Hella are also ok. I wouldn't save £10 and buy the very cheapest sensor. May be you copy the parts number of the sensor and try it in an UK online shop. At least I recognize the same shape of the plug in the photo in the link below as my Ford engine has. To be very sure just measure the length of the cable at your current failed sensor. Note, I wanted a 40mm cable but the length over all including plug and sensor is ca. 40mm. Anyway it is long enough in my case. It is important to measure the needed length of the cable because the enginge has in the Morgan probably another position to the loom vs. a Ford car.

In the fold-out list at the bottom of the link, you can see that a myriad of different Ford engines and models are equipped with this lambda sensor. This means that you are technically very probably buying the right part, and save some Money in comparison to Fomoco OEM prices which use also Bosch, I think.
I even once bought a so called Bosch "Universal" lambda sensor for another car. The difference is that this universal sensor comes without a connector with loose cable ends. This means on the one hand the proof that the sensor itself does not need any special compatibility requirements in most cases (unless you need a wideband lambda sensor which is not the case with your Plus 4).

But I advise from my own experience against the choice of a universal probe! The reason is that the fine silver wires need absolute 0 Ohm connections. My soldering skills were not too good and the sensor did not run 100% correctly. Either someone has a set to cold connect...but much better to have the right connector mounted when buying the part.

Some addition, in case you are not aware you need a special socket for the lambda sensor with a gap for the cables like in the link below. Or you try it with a normal 22er open-end wrench (can but must not work with stuck screws) because a ring wrench is unfortunately not applicable because of the cables. Before unscrewing first disconnect the plug and connect the new sensor only after tightening the plug.

BTW I also have a stainless sport manifold and sport cat. No issues regarding the function of the upstream Lambda sensor.

Thanks folks.
I think it’s a green lambda type, if anyone can help with a part number or source that would be great.

UK online shop site.

Colour of plug is white and not green but it is the right plug. See for compatibility the list below, it will work.

2011 refers to when Morgan still installed the engine. At Ford, it was not used for such a long time but until about 2007.

Thank you.
I looked at the link but couldn’t see a 2.0l 143 bhp engine in the list of applicable vehicles.
Could there be another sensor that quotes a Ford 2.0L 143bhp engine?
Price is great at under £40!
Cheers, Giles

Have a look at the screenshot of the German autodoc site. Down at the right side you see your engine in green letters as compatible with this sensor.

If you click on the UK autodoc site the + symbol at the Ford brand which I linked to you, you just see among others, Ford Mondeo MK3 2000 - 2007 110 - 226 HP which includes your engine.

Hi,
Thanks for the information, I’ve ordered the part so hopefully I’ll get it booked in to get it changed.
The OEM part number was MEE3060 and was 258 plus VAT. The part from autodoc was under £40 delivered.
It made me smile with the service interval on this sensor to be 160,000 Kim’s, my plus 4 has done less than 2,000 miles! So conclusion being that either it’s failed massively prematurely or it’s not the upstream Lambda. Fault code for the MIL was upstream lambda and the fumes really do smell very strongly of unburnt hydrocarbons again backed up by a huge reading on the gas analyser that would fail an MOT.
Here’s hoping the new sensor solves it, if not I’ll be back for more advice! smile
Cheers, Giles

Give us an update, I would be very interested. The fact that the car has only run 2000km does not really speak for a broken lambda sensor. But who knows.
