IMHO, Morgan suffers from a severe case of "Not invented Here" and "Do it cheaper".

Evidence: my Aero Chassis Plus 8. Now with SSL suspension at the 4 corners it is a delight. The Plus 6 can be made to be, perhaps, even better...and safer.
The Plus 4 is not bad, but could be improved.

The Aero Plus 8 suspension was, I'm reliably informed, set up to make it feel like a Morgan.....a traditional one with cart springs.
That they had one of the most sophisticated suspension designs of the day and then deliberately degraded, using ill suited and low quality shocks and springs it so it didn't perform to its capabilities is beyond belief.

as far as I can tell, it's a conscious choice by Morgan to set up their modern models to have handling feel like the Trads. The Aero GT came with adjustable suspension, and standard Aero S5 anti roll bars, which were set up to give the stiff front end & soft rear of a Trad car. It's not enough to change just the springs & dampers: the handling won't change until the ARBs are swapped to soften the front & stiffen the rear.

The SSL drop links are a clever addition - allowing some roll and initial compression, allowing the rest of the setup to remain *relatively* stiff.

I was a tad amused than when my S5 was in the factory in January for a straightforward inspection, it took the team near two hours longer than they'd suggested might be the case. I can't help feeling they may have taken the opportunity to spend some time looking closely at the SSL suspension.

I ordered the kit from Librands, their price now is 1490,- plus VAT and shipping without installation. Or ask your local Morgan Garage, they can order direct from SSL and give you a price including installation.

Regarding the stiff front swaybar of the Plus Six, the flexible droplink is a smart and simple way to reduce its influence. On fast cornering you can still feel its stiffness coming through, once the rubber dampers of the droplink are loaded up. The perfect solution would be a softer front swaybar. I considered asking SSL about that. Maybe a nice further improvement for the future.

Regards,
Markus

I understand fitting the ARB is a lot of labour, wings and bonnet off, and some other ancillary stuff has to be removed to get access, then put it all back.
In comparison the drop links are cheap and quick to fit.

Hi all, I can fully agree with Markus after fitting the SSL two months ago on my PlusSix MY22. Much better handling and front is no longer pointing to the sky when accelerating. Rear is a bit harder and tail is no longer sliding as before when pedal to the metal. I have not changed the SSL settings (Pos 5). I also can recommend the Librand service. Quick reaction times and very good information. Also some support for tax clearance when I imported the suspension parts from UK to Germany.

Dear all,
I have read this thread with interest (noting the dates). I recently started a thread following my misfortune of buckling 2 wheels on my 2021 CX plus six, probably on the appalling road surface of the M20. They were so badly buckled they’ve got to be replaced, along with the tyres (to add to the expense, Continental have changed the tread pattern, so to match them up I probably will have to buy all 4!!). Thanks to those that responded with helpful suggestions.

Having read this thread, I wondered whether a Librands SSL suspension upgrade would actually improve the suspension sufficiently to help avoid buckling my wheels again on the appalling British roads. Any thoughts, anyone?
Pete

Is the car any higher off the ground with the SSL fitted I have ground out quite a few times it seems lower than the old series 1 Aero. Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Emyr, how you getting on, must have had some good runs with our recent good weather?
I have the SSL fitted, we must get together to compare ride height.
