I'm gradually working towards selling Lottie Lotus and buying Maggie Morgan. But which model of trad? I tried the 1600 cc one at the factory and quite contrary to my expectations I thought the performance was not at all bad - my inclination is always to go for more power more acceleration more adrenaline. Mind you I've always had the theory that there is more fun to be had thrashing the nuts off a slow car than having to take it carefully in one that is very fast
The car is to be a toy with maybe the occasional foreign trip 2 up but mostly me thrashing down the B roads on sunny days. Maybe the odd track day.
So which model would you suggest and why?

I have had my Morgan for 4 months now. Initially wanted the 4/4, however after test driving both the 4/4 and the plus 4, I went for the plus 4. I felt that the plus 4 would be more suitable for the occasional motorway and foreign trips with two up. It is happy crusining along mile after mile. If I had intended 'just' whizzing around B roads, I would have gone for the 4/4. You definitely need to drive the 4/4.

If you're going for new, try the 4/4 anniversary with the 2 Litre. I'm looking forward to trying that out when I get the chance because I think it will provide a good balance of power with handling - and looks!! Otherwise try them all. Insurance doesn't seem to vary much with trads, so it's matching what you want to the right mix of engines and 'width'. Be mindful that steering effort depends on whether each car has damper blades or bearings, and factory dampers will not feel like aftermarket adjustables, so two otherwise identical cars can feel very different. Which is your local dealer? Ironic that I'm seriously toying with having a Lotus Elise!!!

I was going to suggest the 4/4 75th Anniversay model, too. The alternative would be the 4/4 Sport with Omex kit. Gives a useful increase in power & torque, with no reduction in fuel consumption or increase in road tax... Being a Lotus owner, you'll be used to revving the motor - so the Sport with added zoom might be right. As Dave said - try as many as you can! Cheers,

What Omex kit is that Graham? I've looked at the website, seems to be ECU or 2 litre engine. I'm slowly getting my 4/4 to the state I want....the next step will probably be induction.

From reading your contents you like a tight twisty country road . Now heres where I put my nuts on the line . If you have liked the Lotus , then try a 4/4 or +4 they have CHUCKABILITY more in line with a Lotus the roadster has not . If you are a speed freak then its the roadster . But as one lad has said go and try the lot on differant days and differant areas till you get the feel of them , if it does not talk back to you its not the one . ars I'm gradually working towards selling Lottie Lotus and buying Maggie Morgan. I've done chuckable 4/4 Sport (with standard axle and short axle) and speed freak Roadster and prefer Roadster. It's not as nimble as 4/4 (and steers better on alloys) but neither is it a blunt instrument, it can purr along but then push the organ pedal to the carpet you'd better have your wits about you. There are plenty of Mogs for sale at moment and prices are as good as they are ever likely to be so drive a few and find one that tickles your fancy.

Omex developed a kit for the factory Jay. Ask when you are next down there - they might even have a car with the kit fitted...

Any idea how much those kits would be fitted to a 1.8 Zetec? I'm trying to decide on whether to go down this route or change my car.
Sorry, not wishing to divert the thread.
I did try a sport and a 4/4 with a 1.8 Zetec. The dealer advised towards the Zetec engined car and I think this conversion may well help.
