I had read that they were being urged to sell Lotus (by their asian investors). As of yet Proton were reluctant in doing so, has this changed?

Clearly the people at Goodwood don't think the sale will make a difference (either that, or they haven't heard). This was posted this morning on the Festival of Speed Facebook page:

Lotus to take centre stage as the chosen Marque at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood will celebrate this much-loved British brand at an exciting time in the marque’s history, as Lotus is currently two years into a dynamic five year brand reinvigoration plan with the goal of returning the marque to its original status alongside other prestigious sports car manufacturers. The plan includes an entire new range, the first of which will be the return of the iconic Esprit in 2013.

I hope not; with RR & Bentley now German; Land Rover & Jaguar now Indian; it would be nice if Lotus could eventually go back to British ownership.

I think Lotus are after £500mill to invest over the next 3 years. A big risk for any investor. It would take four Euro Lottery jackpot winners.............
They might do better with Morgans approach of limited runs, with a classic in the mix (Elan) - but it looks like there's too much infrastructure to support low volumes.
I really hope they survive in the UK though.
