I had the very same issue on a trip to Scotland recently. I disconnected the battery terminal, left it for 2 minutes and that solved the problem. It was a pain because you could not see the mph reading and the speedometer is useless!
The following day we had the little yellow submarine sign appear, looked in the handbook and it said "check the engine". Well I had a look and the engine was still there so we carried on. The following day it dissapeared and things have been normal since. It's a Morgan, what do you expect.

Disappointing. Yes and no. MMC have zero control on quality care on parts brought in. There isn't a car on this planet be it the cheapest or most expensive where a part will fail. Happens on cars, homes, phones etc. My previous 718 Spyder had a fault not two days after collection. Was it a disappointment? Of course, but fixed quite quickly and I was on my way. To the OP, it's a sensor. Easy fix IMHO. They do at times get dirty and throw a fault.

I am not certain I agree with that approach? When you buy something you buy the combined product. MMC DO own the issue with sub parts as they have combined them into their product. Your contract is with MMC for the total car. You don't have sub contracts for the wheels? That would be like saying my cake tastes like sawdust because the sugar supplier shipped rubbish. You ship the cake you own the flavour. I agree re the fact that suppliers fail and parts break but that is not the customers issue.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Apologies, I should have perhaps stated the obvious. `Yes, MMC is responsible for fixing the car regardless of who made the part. I was referring to the comment I originally quoted where it was said problems like this should not be happening on a car at this price point. Parts fail, it's a fact. And they fail across all OEMs regardless of cost. The point being is a failed sensor isn't something that MMC, or any OEM, could prevent from happening. MMC have their faults as do other `OEMs but it is a bit much to assume MMC dropped the ball because a part that was brought in failed.

Are you sure it s not the over seer on ?
When you use the hand brake when running the warning lights on.
There is a button under the dash board to be able to use the hand brake when running.
This is only for auto box plus four .
