Just had an email concerning new Plus car orders. They are offering any paint finish, solid or metallic, plus any carpet, trim, piping and stitching options all without cost until 30th September. I estimate savings running into the thousands.

It is called price cutting to get sales.
I admire Musk for just cutting prices, not dressing it up s a special deal. He cut prices and sales went up....not exactly rocket science.
The 2023 CX cars are not competitive with the sort of cars that potential owners would consider.

Yes first thought was they are struggling.

Speaking to a dealer, they say it is to stimulate sales before they tail off over autumn/winter. Basically boosting sales early to cover the drop in assembly in the colder months. Covers colours of paint, leather, carpets. COLOURS only, so any paint type but no free leather type/pattern of quilting, (but stitching colour choice included as free)etc. I think carpets might include upgrade to box weave but not certain.
So potential biggest savings for paint especially with any colour ( to match your wife’s eyes an option). Solid, metallic, pearl in any colour you like. Excluding pearlescent it comes to a possible £2k+ sweetener.

Sooo, if you can knock off 5k's worth of usually chargeable options, does it prove they are vastly overpriced anyway ? like £1500 for metallic when your painting the car anyway, £1700 for posh leather, £800 for 3 yds of carpet, £700 for contrast piping !! no difference in labour for the last 3 and where's the credit for the original materials allowed for ?

I'd be pretty annoyed if having just ordered a car before this offer came into effect, possibly having to fork a further £5k.

I agree that the offer is basically free to MMC as the only costs incurred will be small differences in paint purchase ( unless you go pearlescent!), pennies for swopping the thread bobbin on the sewing machine, negligible ( if any) cost effect on carpet colour, unless you ask for a weird colour that might entail a bespoke carpet order from a supplier.
Based on a dealer’s comments the offer is COLOUR only and not for upgraded leather ( smooth instead of dimple) or for the upgraded quilting patterns away from the basic. Excludes going box weave carpet instead of standard too.
Colour match the paint/leather/ carpet to your wife’s eye colour.......brownie points for free!
The email seems to offer trim upgrades that suggest non colour upgrades to leather patterns and carpets with solid/ metallic paint. That may not be the case.

I’d like to see Morgan paint a car to recreate my wife’s eyes when I grabbed a beer tonight instead of filling the dishwasher

It’s always about this time of year that MMC try to drum up sales and fill order books. In previous years it’s been lots of extras for free or I remember going back around 2017 any spec on a plus 4 for a price of around 8K over base price. I remember someone on here had every extra on the list that would have cost £18K

But I have heard through an ex Morgan dealer who still keeps in close contact with the current dealer network that Morgan are struggling for new orders and that one of the main reasons is that many that bought the new CX models aren’t keeping them and so there are quite a few second hand on the market both privately and through dealers in just about every spec

Going back before the CX models, owners who bought new held on to them, many becoming Morganeers for life

I wonder if it’s because they can’t tinker on the CX’s as much as the classics or if it’s the younger audience doesn’t relate to the Morgan Club community or maybe last years brake issue or the radiator issues have spooked owners

Or maybe it’s having so much money tied up in a car which needs garaging, love, attention and puts it in a price bracket with lots of tempting very modern machinery

I would like to be able to just ORDER a new Plus Four! I’ve had my deposit down for nearly 3 years here in the California high desert. My dealer (Morgan West in Santa Monica) has deposits for nearly 20 cars (I’m number 4). Word is we will be able to order in about 3 months with delivery next Spring. I would think there are probably about 100 cars pre sold here in the states - that should certainly help lagging sales
