Hi Sewin - Thanks for your reply - The red bit is the bit surrounding the iridium electrode. Thanks for your info theough - all noted and very handy to be aware of.

Yes your NGK ITR6F13 plugs are laser iridium. More info here. They appear to be an NGK recommended upgrade for Focus 2.0 Mk 2 2004-2011 among others.

Below is probably the best pic of those you linked to.

I agree with others that the red insulator colour is likely down to fuel additives. My colour chart matches to use of lead replacement petrol but otherwise normal.

Thanks Richard. How did you get the picture to upload? I kept getting a message saying that the image was too big!
I'm pretty suer the gap is greater than 1mm ( as per previous post on this thread) I've not measured it but have no reason to assume it has been squeezed down from the original 1.3mm Is that likely to make much of a difference - the car feels like its running well...

The quick answer is that this forum is not the best place to upload images. If you look at this page, it will give you instructions about a TM option -

The OE plugs would have been Motorcraft so it's on it's second set at least, visually the gap looks a bit large which will stress the Coil Pack

I had to resort to some cunning and host the picture myself after grabbing a screenshot. You need a host that will provide you with a direct picture link then use the picture icon whilst making post. I use Imgur which is free and tolerant of any picture I upload irrespective of file size since it reduces automatically.

Regarding plug gap, I would reduce to 1mm as suggested or 40 thou if you have imperial feeler gauge.

I can't seem to find, or should I say, feel confident that I know which spark plug I should be ordering for a 1.6 Sigma engine. Any pointers and/or recommendation on what brand is recommended and/or part number?

Why not simply remove an existing plug and see what it is from the writing on the insulator?
If purchasing online, beware of the many fakes that exist, which may look perfectly normal right down to packaging. One test for this might be the price; I have seen sets of 4 NGK plugs for £40+ but also the “same” thing for around a tenner. If unsure, best to stick to reputable dealers/suppliers.

The NGK catalogue quotes an LTR51X-11 plug as the iridium upgrade for the 1.6 Sigma from 1996 - 2018.
