With a few notable exceptions, prices are dropping across the board. By that I mean not only Morgans but classic cars as well.

There are a few trad Plus 8's that I've been following, at prices that I would have considered low a year or two back. None have sold.

Last night my Roadster 100 Edition failed to get beyond £32,000 in a C+C auction, two weeks after it failed at the same price on the Bonhams site. The three others currently for sale at £43,000, £46,000 and £55,000 would not seem to have a prayer if that is a measure of the market.

I have not owned a Morgan yet but am in the market privately for either a 2012 onwards Plus 4 or a low mileage pre 2006 or post 2017 Roadster, but many of the prices being asked seem poor value for money. Also, I am waiting for one to come up with the right spec and colour combination.

It seems to me that many of the dealers are advertising and re-advertising cars which would seem to indicate that a) asking prices in general are too high and b) because they have to hold on to stock for a long time they must have to buy in cars at very low prices so I find it hard to understand why many private selllers asking prices seem to mirror those of dealers, so these seem to hang around for ages too……

I appreciate that Morgans are very special, but there is only a limited market for them, so in the present climate motivated sellers who price realistically are much more likely to sell in a reasonable time………

We've all been used to rock solid used values for Morgans over the years.
Low demand, high prices, an unstable financial climate and, maybe, a lack of 'people of a certain age' to buy them have all possibly lead to the current market.

A Morgan has historically been seen as a safe place to put your (pension) money, there has often been talk on TM about the investment potential of Morgans. They've been almost depreciation proof for so many years.
I guess we (Morgan owners) are just experiencing the sort of depreciation that the owners of normal cars as well as other sports cars have had to endure.

I suppose what it's saying is get out and drive your car, get it wet and dirty, go places in it, do things in it, because if you're going to lose a few quid on it you might as well really enjoy the period that you owned it and get your money's worth...!!!

The speedster was an incredible buy for someone.

A well known 'legacy dealer' told me that Morgans with big engines weren't selling at all, but looking at all the cars for sale on the MMC web site you could add in pretty well everything else...!

My car is being auctioned by Bonhams at the moment so I'm hoping that bidding will go berserk.......😁 There's quite a few watchers and I've had several people message me wanting more information so who knows, it's not a hardship to keep it if it doesn't sell. I've been realistic with the reserve, which is all you can do, after that it's in the lap of the gods.🤷🏻‍♂️

Perhaps another barrier when selling some of larger engined Morgans is the current £675 annual road tax which will continue rising in line with inflation in future?
