My hood leaks at the rear behind the passenger seat, the felt covering the bar at the rear of the hood becomes saturated and water runs down behind the panel on which the speakers are mounted emerging on the shelf behind the passenger seat. It’s not a small leak as it eventually saturates the carpet on the floor behind the passenger seat. Oakmere have replaced the rubber seal, it is a little better but still leaking. Anyone had similar experience? Roger

Is the water coming through the stitching? With a cream/beige hood interior it shows up more than black, but sometimes the stitching will leak, although as bad as that is rare.

Nikwax applied to the stitching may help. Some people use wax, but most applications will leave a slight mark on the outside.

Dave, which of their products would you recommend. This one looks appropriate?

That should work Heinz, other products will also work, like

I tend to have this one on the shelf, so use it by default

As far as I can tell the water is not running down the fabric inside the hood so is probably not due to the stitching. One test I did was to fit my storm cover so the lower part of the hood, where the brake lights are, was exposed and it still leaked.. It could be coming in through the brake light, that is the right sort of area but when Oakmere first looked at this issue they thought it was the brake light and said they re-sealed it but the leak persisted.

Roger, to test if the rubber seal is fitting down to the rear deck properly, trap some paper under it and give each tested section a gentle pull on the paper if it slides out easily you have a tiny gap and water will track under by capillary action and leak inside

It's a tricky balance between a watertight seal or the rear of the hood mechanism being a pain to release

My old trad had the Everflex hood and water came in through the stitch holes. I tried wax but didn’t work. Seam sealer worked much better. Worst leaks were from the front, water getting under from the screen frame. Stick on neoprene section sorted that.
Got a Plus Four now with easy up (?) hood. Not used in rain yet. My first thoughts are is the hood physically sealing down onto the body when the catches engage? Try the Cooperman test. If no catch adjustment cures it then perhaps some thin extra sealing strip might be needed to bridge the gap.
An odd thing but, try pushing the rear down in a different order. It might ( it’s a Morgan after all) mean better setting of the catches if done in reverse order.

Thanks for all the advice and a suggestions, I think I have homed in on the problem. I had a chat with Morgan and my car is missing a plastic insert that sits under the spare wheel. Apparently this insert deflects water that enters between the wheel and body at the top. Without this insert the water runs along a shelf along to where the seat belt is bolted and finds an easy route into the cabin and onto the floor. If I take the spare wheel out and look along inside I can see the seat belt! Waiting now for the plastic insert so fingers cross it solved the problem.
