Just heard from a reliable source that many, if not most, CX cars are bought on PCP. If this is true can we expect to see them on the market in three years time and at what level of depreciation - just wondering?

An interesting contrast to the traditional cars cosseted by their owners for many years while all the time enjoying very little if any depreciation in their car’s value.
Low depreciation used to be a significant Influence to both new and used buyers.
Are we heading towards seeing late trads being more valuable than early CXs?

This could happen if in a few years there are less good Trads and if there is a market for then vintage Morgans.

Are we heading towards seeing late trads being more valuable than early CXs? I would say almost certainly. Over supply of the latest model versus known quantities of the older all make an older Trad a safer financial bet. No-one bought a Trad for it's driving capabilities, after all. They are bought because of the history and the nature of the build something of a USP for decades. Everyone loves an underdog, and Morgan were always lauded thus. Fast forward to today, and you can order one like a Big Mac, direct from a screen. The USP has disappeared, and the cracks are beginning to show here in the UK. Foreign markets are now the flavour of the day. The underlying & constant vilification of the motorist as a planet killer is depressing the car market. Indecision of EV purchase infrastructure & throwaway values of electronic items are all having an impact on the motoring psyche as we roll forward into the New World order. Trad Morgans may have their faults, but being a throwaway isn't one of them and the modern versions are being seen as a 'modern' car with all that entails.

A PCP is just a financing method of facilitating renting a car over a fixed period eg 3 years as opposed to outright ownership. What is fundamentally different is that a PCP has an automatic trigger at the end of the contract length, which creates a future fixed decision point, which otherwise may not occur during an outright ownership arrangement.
That is do you keep or replace with a new car on PCP, from Morgan's perspective they hope it triggers a new Morgan car (as they have stated the only competition is their own cars in the market place) this assumes that considerations like the reliability issues remain firmly a thing of the past. If they do not, (add in availability of spares and lead times for supply to support aging CX cars) it may lead to the second hand market becoming flooded with cars once they come out of PCP or the new car warranty period.
It would be interesting to understand how many CX cars on the second hand market are ex PCP cars and how many are outright purchased cars and whether those cars were replaced with a new Morgan.
Traditionally continuous new year model update releases often undermine the relative resale values. We may also see a marked price differential, between the early CX's without eg comfort seats ,other considerations eg will pre traction control cars become more or less attractive than the later updated models over time. Having said that if new Morgan production volume remains relatively fixed and is geared to satisfy overseas markets and therefore UK supply becomes more restricted, could we see a resurgence in resale values post the current malaise/ recession..It will be interesting to see the average length of ownership of CX model cars compared with trads.

It's sad to hear the negative vibes coming from Trad owners regarding the newer models, it was exactly the same gripes the early adopters of the Aero had to endure. If you think a 2018 plus four gdi or roadster is vintage carry on dreaming. This loyal customer stuff keeps resurfacing from people who never take their cars back to the factory for servicing or have any intention of changing their cars. Morgan can only survive with new car sales the outgoing roadster fully loaded was nearly 70K there are quite a few gdi still out there at 50K. And ask any dealer out there Trads have changed hands much more in the last 10yrs. I feel very fortunate to own one of the newer car's and after having four this without shadow of doubt is the best and will be used the most. Nearly every roadtest done over the last three years the testers have heaped praise on the cars are they all wrong I think not. Let's just enjoy whatever Morgan you drive still hand built with a wooden tub ....Em
