32 mpg is very impressive Yeah, I was hoping for high '20's' so very happy with that. Good tune, and sensible/smooth driving. I do 50 miles a day, but most is 50-70mph roads so I can maintain a comfortable cruising speed in overdrive.

32mpg is indeed very good, I used to get around 28mpg. 1800 or 3500cc were roughly the same. the K&Ns will make it a tad lean so check the plugs

As I've got a few weeks off, it's been all hands to the pumps on the MG..
Been a little tricky with the rather inclement weather, but I've had a couple of dry days. First priority with any car is to sort out the brakes and handling, so have fitted new calipers, braided hose, drilled and slotted discs and EBC green pads. It is supposed to be a '25%' improvement, but anything will be better than the tired stuff that was on there.
Then a pair of uprated and lower front springs - the rubber bumper cars were raised due to US regulations so this will bring it down a couple of inches and firm up the cornering.
Cracked on with the back end today to fit a pair of lowering blocks, but discovered that one of the rear brake cylinders was leaking so ordered a complete overhaul set - silly prices again -new drums, shoes, pistons, adjusters and all the associated springs for under £120 inc delivery
Noticed the rear springs were looking a bit knackered - one was starting to spread and one of the leaf clamps had split. Whipped them off and gave the credit card another mild bashing - new springs, bolts, U bolts, pads and rear shackles for £135 inc delivery. Couple of dry days next week so wait for the postie and start bolting it all back up.
Also got a couple of new seat bases to fit to stop the sagging.
Poor Mog is feeling a bit neglected, but the weather is looking better next week, and I did manage a breakfast at the MMC Experience Centre last Friday....

Loving the parts prices.
Looking forward to the reports on how much better the car goes.

Everything all bolted back, although I'm absolutely knackered!
Brakes are still a bit soggy, but with four complete new sets it's going to take a few miles to get everything bedded in. Will get a couple of hundred miles under the belt and then check everything over and get the rears agjusted up properly. Also need the suspension to settle a bit but already an inch or so lower.
Seats are a massive improvement - really comfy, fitted some neoprene sheet between the seat foam and the new webbing (like I did on the Mog) to help spread the load.

The brake pedal on my 1980 with twin circuits was always long pedal and soft, even with only 5,000 miles on. Seems to be a function of the twin master cylinder.
Whereas my 1974 with single circuit and remote servo had minimal travel and was much harder, and much more as I like it.

That's a perfect description of what I have, and gives me some encouragement, thank you. I don't really like it, but will probably get used to it. Just been for a 15 mile spin round the block and already have more confidence in the system. If I can't get used to it, I'll ditch the servo and revert back to a simpler system. Over on the MG forum a few have told me that 'it's a classic car and you can't compare it to a modern vehicle'. I'm not - I'm comparing it to a 1972 Morgan that has proper brakes....

If you revert to the earlier single line system with remote servo it will feel a lot better. In fact it shouldn't make too much difference to not have a servo. I tried for 22 years to get a harder pedal with the dual system, and nothing made any difference.
Pump the pedal with the engine off, and the pedal will come up. Start the engine with your foot still on the pedal, and it will sink again.
