I've been following the saga of the MX5 V6 by Rocketeer...
Take a 20 year old MX5, take out the cast iron 1,8 L four and replace with an all alloy Jaguar 3.0L V6. Same weight, the MX5 box matches and yours for £15,000 to £20,000

That does look great. 15k is not a lot. The engine isn't the same as the S1 Roadster which has an ST220 , the Jag variant has VVT etc .

Interestingly the Duratec V6, in all its guises, was designed by Porsche, engineered by Cosworth and built by Ford. The Jag version has VVT, forged rods and crank and is good for 300bhp at 7500 rpm, very short stroke.

Very interesting, but I can not believe that the heavy V6 should not weigh more than an MX5 4 cylinder. The V6 is even heavier than the Rover V8 as far as I know. The difference with the Plus8 was only that the Ford V6 was placed further back towards the center in the Roadster.

Nevertheless, definitely a great project with the V6 Transformatiin, it was not meant negatively. My son finds the conversion to V6 very cool, he himself drives a tuned 4 Cyl. NA for years. Here in the link below is an American version of a conversion that you can officially buy there. In the specs at the end of the report, however, the 2,700 lb indicate about more than 200 kg extra weight, which, however, is not only one-sided front add but also the double-flow exhaust system, etc. makes weight. Is the torque within MX5 gearbox limits, noting that all Roadster variants have avoided it, excellent though it is?

I can't say for sure, but the 3.0 was discontinued right when the Mazda gear box was introduced to MMC in the first place. Maybe it's a little too much torque from the V6 3.0. The 3.7 would certainly have overtaxed the MX5 NC gear box.
