Before I make a blunder I thought I would ask in here. I have a 2015 plus 4 with the GDI engine it's only done 3700 miles and has been stood for a few years. I'd like to service it . Previous invoices show 5w/40 oil but the supplied handbook shows 5w/30. Also my local motor factors list no filters I wondered if there were any Mann or wix numbers for air oil and fuel. Lastly what spark plugs as its now 8 years old I thought it best to give it a full service and change the gearbox and diff oils at tbe same time. I'm assuming a general purpose automotive grease is ok for all the grease nipes. Many thanks in advance

Handbook shows 5w30 semi synthetic engine oil. Spark plugs should be fine at such a low mileage as will air filter but you may want to remove plugs just to check they are not corroded in.

Gearbox oil recommendation is Morris Lodexol FS75W90 or equivalent filled to hole approx 1.5 litres.

Rear axle 80W140 semi synthetic filled to hole approx 1 litre.

Suggest greasing front suspension (all four nipples) and putting a few miles on it first. Battery may have suffered with so little use. Type 075 (56077) is generic code if needed.

Someone will be along to give you oil filter reference.

I can only speak for the Duratec engine which is 5W30 if semi synthetic or 5W40 fully synthetic.
As far as filters are concerned, simply look at what is fitted currently and there are plenty of conversion charts online for other makes. (I use Mann W7015 oil filter, but gdi could be different?)
Spark plugs should not need changing at all with so little mileage as they are not age related. However, it is important to remove them and re insert them annually to avoid them becoming seized in the alloy head. When removing, it is possible that you could find that one or more of the external bodies are rusted if the car has been out in the rain, in which case, you may choose to clean them up or replace with like for like.
Tips: once loosened, I like to stick a vacuum cleaner over the plug recess to suck out any debris before finally removing the plug. When replacing, only a light torque to about 14 lb-ft is necessary.
Greasing: lots of views on the type of grease. I use Millers Deltaplex 2EP, others go with Red ‘n Tacky, some like moly based products…at the end of the day, any grease at 500 -1000 mile intervals is better than no grease at all!
Good luck and enjoy.

Forgot to mention PSS, bleed through fresh DOT4 brake and clutch fluid, particularly the former. This should be repeated every couple of years as it's hygroscopic.

Another thought, rather than needlessly change diff and gearbox oils at such a low mileage, I would turn attention to changing hydraulic fluid in the brakes and clutch as being hygroscopic, it can cause corrosion, particularly in the rear slave cylinders. Recommended to be done every two years.
Also bear in mind, that the tyres are now about 8 years old and despite a good tread depth should be considered for renewal due to hardening of the compound. (Some even go for a 6 yearly renewal!) up to you, but I wouldn’t want to stretch it much longer than 8.

Err, with respect RichardV6 I'm not so sure your info on the gearbox for a GDI is correct. It has the Mx5 gearbox which takes 2 litres. In the GDI installation the engine is vertical as opposed to the 10 deg slant that it's in in the Mx5. This means that the gearbox is on a slant so that the level plug is lower than it should be. In order to get 2 lt into the box you have to pick the front of the car up (quite a lot!). There is also the remote gear lever mounting, if your car has one? This has a small amount of oil in it. This is also explained in the link.

See here there is also a part2. http://www.mogmag.co.uk/rumblings-from-a-mazda-box-part-1/

Edit: I use a Mahle OC1063 oil filter in my GDI.
From looking at the gear ratios given in my handbook it refers to the Ford gearbox.

Cheers
John

Makes sense John although info was taken directly from the Morgan handbook which includes the GDI Plus 4. I vaguely recall the tilted gearbox discussion some time ago though. Thanks for the reminder.

FWIW rear axle capacity needed correction from that in handbook for my Roadster. I remember having to order another bottle of oil so take such info with a pinch of salt now.

No probs Richard.
As, in the Trad Morgan, we both drive the perfect car we cannot expect the handbook to be perfect too? innocent
Cheers
John.
