While Dozy Drakeford takes the Welsh nation down the 20mph road to speed bump Neverland looks his paymaster might make a U turn regarding 2030, I bet the car manufacturers are delirious I might take my 15mph pushbike for a blast safe in the Knowledge a Ferrari or Lambo can only pass me at 5 mph. Em

.....his paymaster might make a U turn regarding 2030, I bet the car manufacturers are delirious So is that delirious as in happy or hopping mad ??? MMC for example now has another 5 years of selling I.C. engined cars (maximise the revenue while you can is my advice !), whereas the R&D that's been going on has 5 more years to get things right before electrocution kicks-in. Oh and conveniently that means another 5 years to get the infrastructure sorted (maybe). Who'd be a car manufacturer eh ?

Will give the EV instigators another 5 years to make sure the cars/infrastructure is actually right instead of Beta-testing it on us Joe Public.
Still doubt it will be 'right' right even then.
Someone said "Politics is the art of the possible" ... too many swivel-eyed activists driving unrealistic deadlines ... Labour should be ecstatic ... Cons taking the ire of the greens by acknowledging the deadlines are unrealistic ... and leaving Labour with more breathing-space to look good with the delivery.

I bet the car manufacturers are delirious Not that I have heard. Industry works on long term plans. This U turn is only to try and boost the election prospects for the Tories. Short termism as always whatever party is in government.

It has been put back to 2035 not 2030 Not so much as a U-turn as a spot of spinning.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Does Morgan still qualify for exemption as a low-volume manufacturer? https://www.hagerty.co.uk/articles/...orts-car-makers-exempt-from-eu-2035-ban/

This won't change much of anything in regards to 'new' cars being rolled out by mainstream OEMs. Most are 5-10 years into planning and you will be hard pressed to see any major new cars being released after 2030. For example, Audi is soon to release it's A4 replacement and nothing is planned after this bar from perhaps a very subtle facelift. Should 2030 get pushed out further, any ICE car will be running on a decades old architecture.
So yes, I am certain most OEMs are scrambling in one form or another!

It is a pragmitic delay as the power delivery infrastructure has no hope of achieving the 2030 deadline. I'm not really convinced the 2035 one is achievable. By 2030 most people who drive a small car because there is no viable public transport and don't actually enjoy driving will have an EV, leaving ICEs to people like us.
By 2035 I'll be 83 and probably not driving far, if at all. The Boxster will be my last car, I suspect. Talk about going out on a high....!
