I know that these are divisive, with some claiming that they cause corrosion. However, my unadorned wings are forever getting scuffed from shoes, especially on the passenger side. MMC fitted some PPF, but it doesn't appear to be the self-healing kind so that, too, is full of scuffs.

Whatever the drawbacks of tread rubbers, are they not preferable to driving around with scuffed wings?

I'd welcome your thoughts.

Another plus for them. Removed and re-fitted with stainless fixings and anti-corrosion protection.

I just remind any potentially non-savvy passenger of the consequences of scuffing the nicely polished wing before they get in stirpot

My 4/4 has wing tread rubbers and PPF. The PPF still gets scuffed. Mrs F denies all responsibility.

My 4/4 also has PPF.
I polish scuffs occasionally with paint polish and a polishing machine.

Despite tread rubbers and awareness during access and egress, I still get a few scuffs on BOTH sides. It is the nature of the design of the car. Tread rubbers are largely cosmetic, and I find them a nuisance when washing or polishing.

Thank you - I think this is the most important point. If I'm going to get scuffing even with the treads, I may as well just get some better PPF fitted so that it can be buffed out.

The danger of fitting tread rubbers post build is that you will be drilling through the paint film, undercoat and etch primer. The chance of future moisture 'creep' and corrosion will be high, so best avoided (even with everything soaked in waxoil)

Some of the latest PPF's are self healing to a degree, you warm it up with a hairdrier or simply buff out with a fine cutting polish

My treads were fitted with double sided tape to save drilling through the paintwork..
