The owner of Tarka, Ian, lives in the depths of the New Forest, at God's Hill. Since he bought Tarka in the spring it has been a daily drive and he remains captivated. BUT...
Parked outside a friends house in the forest the car was attacked by a horse......yes, a 500kg horse.
It damaged the front O/S wing, running board and silencer, rear wing and rear quater panel. Morgan has quoted £12k.
BUT....they can't fix it until February, as they don't have any front wings....

The horse has insurance, so not a problem, just an inconvenience.

This must be a unique way to damage a Plus 8.

He clearly is a quicker driver than me as he has had the car on a number of tracks and has seen 140mph....
He criticised the rear suspension at speed the travel is reduced and so it bottoms out at speed over quite small bumps.

It is good to know he is enjoying the car as much as we did!!

Poor man!
But better now than in spring or summer!?

If Morgan has no CX-wings in stock - what would happen if we need trad wings in the future?

Very sorry to hear this, and Ian did well to trace the owner of the pony. But probably not unique here in the New Forest. A few years ago the bonnet of my Honda S2000 was damaged by a pony which took a dislike to its own reflection in the bonnet and attacked it with a front hoof. I was in the car but couldn't get away (in reverse) fast enough, due to the empty school bus behind me. The pony had galloped off by the time I tried to identify it and trace the owner (usually by ID'ing the way the tail is trimmed). My daughter had a pony sit on the bonnet of her Saxo. Maybe we are just an unlucky family. mad

Wait...they are on order and will be back in stock.....just not until early next year!

The owner has been identified and the horse is insured against 3rd party damage so the claim is in process: my view is that all horses in public places should carry 3rd party liability insurance.

The Forest people are quick to point out how many animals are injured or killed by cars/vans, but not how many parked cars/vans damaged by animals. I suspect that it i more than most people realise!

((For those unfamiliar with the New Forest, there are 5000 horses, plus some cattle, sheep and pigs roaming freely over 566sq km of the forest))

I damaged my front n/s wing in June after hitting a deer. I was told a new wing had to be made and there was a 7-week lead time, I don't know whether that was from Morgan or somewhere else like Vintage Sheet Metal.

Peter , ask Ian to contact KRC body repairs in Malvern, 07881 508104, they have a website too. Roger the co owner is an ex factory employee, an absolute genius with Morgan bodywork and the Factory still use him when the repair is beyond their capabilities, he will repair rather than replace where possible, 5***** recommended.
I didn't know the Plus 8 wings were the same as the CX cars, if so there should be plenty in stock considering their current sales figures!

I had an eye on Tarka, in cause it‘s a very beautyful car. So I‘m sad to hear it.

Another vote for Roger - his level of craftsmanship is superb.

I was looking at a project recently and his name was raised by another person (independently), who knows these cars very well, as the person worth speaking with.

Doesn't Tarka have SSL suspension?

He needs to adjust it :-)
